My 99 is wondering around too much & I am looking for the fix for this track bar issue. I've read some posts about upgrading the track bar to the 03, with the adaptor & was wondering how well this is working as a cure? Lukes Link has a new product that they say cures the problem. Has anyone used this? How have you guys fixed this issue & what is "the cure" for the wandering problem?

Did the Luke's Link, wasn't too bad to put in, and so far works great. For the price it's hard to beat. I always suggest try it first.

If you still have wander try the DSS (Darin's Steering Stabilizer). I have that on my '96. With that and the Luke's Link my high miler steers better than many trucks I've driven.

I made three mods sequentually. First the 3rd Gen Track bar, second the DSS, and third the Luke's Links. For me the 3rd gen track bar mod made the biggest difference. Probably took the steering wheel play from 5 or 6 in to 2 or 3 in. The DSS took out about have the remaining play (down to about 1 1/2 or so). The Luke's Links took it down to about an inch. That was all before an alignment. After the alignment, the steering seemed vague again. Moral to the story. What makes the biggest difference will problably vary depending on what is the worst on your truck and an alignment may make things worse. I also read on another thread there are two types of steering boxes in some trucks. Some boxes turn 4 1/4 turns lock to lock and others 3 turns. Apparently trucks with thee 4 1/4 turn boxes have a tendency to wander. Haven't verified it myself so you may want to look into that further.

hi guys

just installed the DSS 3rd gen adjustable track bar w/ mount on a stock '01 3500 deisel w/190k /WOWW... I have my steering back/No more looking to see if Im in the correct lane after a lane change/no more constant steering adjustment... turning the wheel 3 inches more to steer than 3 inches more the other way to keep it there (or close to where you wanted it) A little modification required since I had a Curtis plow subframe assembly to incorporate with the 3rd Gen bracket/ A little cutting, a little welding (thanks to my brother)... A Great fit/ thank you RIP 503-654-9004 for good product/w

The 3rd gen bar with the bracket and the DSS is the best!! I tow heavy and all I need to keep in the lane is 1 finger..... Tracks very well and does not wander.

Bar was like $200, the DSS was like $170 and the bracket for the 3rd gen bar was like $150... .
