There is not a person in the TDR who hasn't learned something from Bill..... We've lost one of the best ... Thanks for all the help...

Tim

I have no idea what was said in PM's but I read the posts in the thread about politics before it was edited and I saw nothing that would warrant someone like Bill Fleming quitting the site. The PM's must have been real nasty!:( :(

This is an embarassment that we would let things get so petty on the TDR board. I think and hope Bill will return-- he has too many posts to leave!

Let's each ask ourselves if our conduct in this board is helping the TDR collectively or hurting.

I, for one, just can NOT see how we are better off without Bill, Gary KJ6Q, Don M, etc etc.....

Only we police ourselves and uphold high standards on the forums will we get great posts from vendors and those with lots of knowledge. The Moderators can't be the Jiminy Cricket consciences for those who will not exercise their own.

I REALLY hope that those who do it derive a LOT of satisfaction from delivering personal barbs... . There has to be some reason that a person would make comments that end up hurting all 17K+ TDR members... ...

i am not as innocent as i wish i was. I have disagreed with CF and Bill on many occasions. . hopefully, I was not one that contributed to Bill's departure.

I second this. Bill if you go somewhere else please let me know. :(

You've help this 20yr green-behind-the-ears-still CTD junkie more than a few times in the past 2 years and I am greatful for that sir.

Sincerely,

Boy I hate to see Bill go, I may disagree with his political views (as seen in many a thread ;) ) but I have nothing but the highest respect for his intelligence, integrity, and obvious devotion to his country. Same applies to CF, I am sure we three could have a fine dinner out on the town and argue until the wee hours of the morning without it getting "personal".

Sure gonna miss your expertise Bill, hope you will reconsider.

My Perspective

It looks like we need a little more information here.

I am responsible for the TDR Website. It is a significant loss to no longer have Bill Fleming (Illflem) participating in the technical forums. His knowledge and insights have been invaluable to other TDR members over the past several years. We appreciate his technical contributions.

Bill enjoyed participating in the "Other Forum. " This was an activity he voluntarily engaged in. Bill was active in many of the political discussions. Those threads get heated, and very often overly emotional. To a great extent, that is why the "Other Forum" is not viewable by non TDR members. But remember, participation in the "Other Forum" is completely voluntary.

As speculation has it, Bill left solely because of things that happened in the "Other Forum. " Like every TDR member - he had the option of avoiding it.

Bill made demands of me. His expectations were not met. Subsequently, he took actions based on his personal dissatisfaction. Those actions were unacceptable. Bill's remaining subscription has been refunded, and he will not be returning to the TDR website.

I will not post further on this situation.

So Long Bill, I have learned a lot from you and regret your leaving here as you have a lot to offer not just newbies but old timers too. I have always been amazed at how much info and web site links you have instantly available, how you do that? Best wishes.

John

2000 plus views on a thread...

should be gratifying to the thread starter. Not so in this case! It's way too bad that some folks can't see fit to excercise self-control.

I never intended nor imagined that the thread would become political and I regret that some folks on both sides of the political aisle chose to make it that way.

Illflem

Since we have now lost a valued & respected member, maybe it is time to think about some of the things we have said(typed?) to & about each other here. I disagreed several times with both Illflem & CF on political issues previously, but I hope I was not personal with my responses. If so guys, Please forgive my ignorance. We`ll still disagree, but no offence meant or taken. As DL5trees said, IT`S A %^&*ing TRUCK! Life is too short to **** off everyone we disagree with. Hey, Bill! When I ride the Hog up there next spring, the whisky is on me. Thanx for all the info I got from you in just the short time I`ve been here. DK. PS, keep the illflem handle if you go somewhere else!!!!!!!

For Bill Fleming,

Bill, I hope you reconsider your decision to quit the TDR. I try to follow this site when my schedule permits, or when I have trouble with my truck. I always noticed your name on some of the replies I received concerning the problems I encounter. I believe you have forgotten more knowledge about Dodge CTD's than I will ever know. I count on knowledgable people like yourself to help people like me. I notice your name on a lot of replies to people having trouble with their trucks, so I know there are quite a few members like me out there, and few of you.

Please, cast TDR politicts aside and re-join the TDR. From what I could gather on the "discussions" that took place, you fought in a war that you did not believe in, for the good of the country. Please stay in the TDR for the good of its members. Do you want to let ALL the members suffer the absense of your knowlege because of the actions of a few? I hope not. It is I, and members like me who will suffer. John Shocik

I will miss Bill's input here at TDR. The man was a wealth of information! The length and breadth of his knowledge was astounding. I learned much from Bill and it wasn't always about CTD's. We have lost a good man.

But as to the political discussions, we are all men here and we know that these sorts of "chats" can get ugly. One had best have thick skin when entering the fray or just stay out of it.

I feel I am as passionate in voicing my views on this board as anyone else, but I do not take the responses representing opposing views personally. I hope that no one else takes my posts personally. It is not meant that way. The free exchange of ideas and debate is essential to the health of any democracy and I welcome all views, especially those that differ from my own.

So to that end, I say keep the debates alive and going but keep them respectful. We are all entitled to our opinions.

We can disagree without being disagreeable.

Tim

This blows... bill is like the walking CTD Bible, correct me if I am wrong. . Sure, CF and I have butted heads lots of times, but in the long run, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and for that I say "To each, his/her own. " I am very bitter to see Bill leaving, and need to get his Email address. . Wow, someone with almost 9,000 loggable posts, not including the posts in the "other" forum, to be lost over a debate with other people. With all the views over how people like Bush, and people who Don't like bush, I have this to say:

WILLIE NELSON FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!

-Chris-

Hey, I am getting a bumper sticker made that says that pretty soon. . I think if Wille were president, everyone would be able to see things "the Willie Way". . If you could not see things that way, too bad. pretend you do. I am sure if he were in charge during these times, he would go overseas, meet with all the bad people, and spark up a few joints, pass them around, and everyone would be cool, man. Just a thought.

-Chris-

What a bummer. Logged on today and found out about HVAC {Nowel} and now Bill (illflem). My thoughts and prayers go out for both of you.

Thanks Bill for all of the help and advice you have given me over the years.

Dave Gardner. :(

Don't Go Bill!!

Bill I got in on that thread late(after it was closed) and read most of it. I'm with Wade Patton on my opinion about POLITICS!! DON"T OFFER THEM HERE OR POST THEM ON ANY THREAD HERE. Some here don't see things the same way about politics and all of the consequences that go along with one party(stance) or the other. HOWEVER, we need to keep the group together that has as much COMBINED KNOWLEDGE as this group of Dodge/Cummins B Series lovers does. I also have strong opinions about the general direction things are going now but I can find other forums other than the TDR to express these feelings. Stay with us Bill.

does anyone know bill's email address?

it's gonna be one that i will want to have at the top of the address book when i'm having problems.

please post it or pm me.

thanks.

scott.

Sorry to read this. I never thought I'd see it however. Illflem would sometimes PM me to go a thread and offer some assistance on things I had already researched alot... such as the thread concerning seat belt timer modules. I didn't agree with all the things he posted about our Dodge trucks... but I definately respected his opinions and knew he had good reasons for them.

Even though I have opinions on politics and other related topics... I really feel they belong somewhere besides the TDR. Thus I really tend to simply not read them at all. Like Robin said its a matter of choice.

If its Diesel, Dodge or Cummins... or anything mechanical for that matter... I'll come to the TDR. There are plenty of places to discuss topics such as politics besides the best diesel pickup site ever. Sometimes I love reading Other Topics. And other times I cringe when I read the subject headings.
