Warranty Questions

Campgrounds & things to do along Oregon Coast

I called in every IOU from the wife and ordered a Springfield Armory M25 Whitefeather . 308 Rifle. It should be here in a few months. I got the military discount, so I didnt pay the HUGE number that is on the website, but it was painful enough. I cant wait to hit the 1000 yard pop up targets with an automatic :) :) :)

Here are the details

Any other long range shooters out there??

I cant wait!!!!!!

What color did you get?

That's quite a "shootin' iron" I bet that will be a nice shooter, you'll have to give us the low down on how you like it:D :D

I was going to ask if it was named was named after Carlos H. , then I read down  .

Great looking rifle, best off luck with it !!!!

Wow!! Jealousy!!

Seriously, good luck with it. You have to give us a range report.

Might I suggest that you request the military parts in it. (It's probibally built that way anyway being it's a specialty rifle)Many of the SA parts are not up to Mil spec. The military parts are milled, etc. SA makes their own parts cast. Dont really matter with a lifetime warranty, but might save you from shipping it back. Shipping a rifle is a major PITA.

How much did the discount save you?

Eric

You need to join us shooting Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette at 500 Meters with the old Buffalo Rifles. Lot's more fun. You do realize that "Smokeless Powder Is A Passing Fad";)

I agree... Nothing like the smell of black powder to make your day:) The accuracy on those old buffalo rifles is incredible. But then again... the barrels are what... 4, 5 feet long:D

I have a Remington Sendero stainless getting a scope put on it right now. Chambered for the 300 weatherby, should be a good long range rifle.

J Conley

Where are you shooting 1000 yd pop ups? I have shot at Quantico Marine Corps Base's automated target range out to 500yd. Watchin' ' the "green geeks" go down sure is fun. Last time out I shot over 1500 rnds. I have access to Quantico's rifle ranges and range #1 is 1000yd but the targets are the standard bulls-eye on a target carrier. We have had guys in the pit raise targets on a long stick and run with it…. Down side is everyone has to take their turn in the pit. Also, an interesting point is the entrance to Quantico's rifle range is "Hathcock Rd"

J Conley,

We were up at Colinga, CA and watched some 50 Caliber guys shooting at 1000 yds. It was impressive. !!! The noise and recoil did not hurt the accuracy. ;)

Marlin 450

Heyguys, I picked up my new Marlin 450 two weeks ago... what a difference from the one I purchased 6 months ago. The new one is putting 3" groups at 100 yds and 5" groups at 200 yards. Now the gun is probably more accurate thatn that , but with open sights and olds contact lenses... I'll take it  It's a nice little carbine for thosehard to reach places of pine stands. I have my eye on a nice browning 308 varminter. Does anyone else have trouble balancing two hobbbies such as guns and trucks?

Nice buy, I would love a nice M1. The question remains whether you are a NRA member or not. I do not want the liberals, foreign or domestic, to take my hard-earned weapons because they believe that the world will be a safer place by taking all the weapons out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. SLAVERY?! Not for this boy.

I hope that I have not spent 23 years in the military, serving this country to allow our constitution to be ripped apart by the liberals of the world.

Write your representatives in Washington DC and tell them were you stand on the subject and were you wish they stand. Speak up and be counted.

The 1000 yard range is at Camp Swift. It is a National Guard range.

JustMe

No I am not a member of the NRA, and I dont plan to be one. In Texas, I have no fear of anyone trying to get my guns, and I dont agree with everything the NRA says. For instance... while the NRA is against trigger locks, I favor gun safes. I dont want this to start a debate about the NRA and gun regs. I just see the NRA on the far right wing where they oppose everything even though some of the ideas make sence.

Just my . 02C

I joined the NRA thanks to Bill C. I agree with you that the NRA is on the far right side of the issue, but the two extremes equate to a (happy) medium. I have a gun safe in my house and think everyone should own one who own weapons.

Living in Texas does not protect you from the liberals who want to take our guns, I too am a resident of Texas. Born and raised there, just living in GA due to the military.

Thanks for a spirited post! Congratulations on a great weapon, I hope you enjoy it and treasure it for many years.

My 1874 Remington RB 45-90-500 ( black powder ) saddle ring carbine is factory military iron sight to 2200 yds, Has an 18" barrel, shoots 3' groups at 1k yds. My 1878 Argentine RRB musket w/ Bayonet in 43 Spanish, 30" barrel, factory iron site to 2800 yds will group 18" at 1k yds Red Castle range (Corp of Engineers)in Sand Springs, OK. .

$3600. will get a new French military ( US mfg ) surplus 50 cal 5 round magazine, bolt action sniper rifle with scope. Other good mil surplus weapons out there too, even BIGGER BORES.

Just don't break in the barrel like you would a Cummins...

Clean, Shoot once, cool/clean shoot once/cool shoot once more, clean/cool, shoot thrice, ect...

The Cummins would take forever to break in like this!

Good advice AYSCII! I have been reading a lot about barrel break in. I have never had a weapon of this high quality where I ever worried about it. I have also been reading about ballistic coefficient, wind deflection, up/down angle, and everything else that I can get my hands on.

Just for fun... Here is a web page where I placed a video of a . 50 shooting at 1000 yards. http://home.austin.rr.com/jconley/M-50.htm It is only 1. 9 Meg, so it should download pretty quick.

Long Trang Lives!

That's a damn nice rifle... and California legal, so all you 'grabbers' lurking in the shadows, murmuring "... black gun. . ", pick up a Vietnamese dictionary and look up "Sin Loi"
