GCross, the unstoppable dwindling of supply and the corresponding unstoppable increase in demand and price should make bio-diesel practical in the near future. And bio-diesel, unlike petroleum diesel, is renewable. Hang on to your diesels, because gas burners WILL become obsolete during your and my lifetime, and I'm packing over sixty years under my belt. I think I'll buddy up with the owner of the local McDonalds... .

I am in total disbelief that Diesal Fuel is priced at the same rate as Premium Fuel! Arrrgh! I can't believe the trucking industry hasn't linched anyone yet! As consumers, we are hit in the pocket book yes, but trucking is really got to be taking a beating! You'll see goods and services sky-rocket if these prices continue. Once the fleet rates reflect the current prices, look out!

Another question I have for anyone listening, why are so many oil wells capped in Northern Mich? If you spend any time up North, you'll see many capped wells. What are we waiting for? Why don't they uncap our reserves here in the States and start producing oil here?

Of course this is an election year, and things tend to get screwy until the New Boss arrives. I am only going by memory here, but didn't something like this happen 4 years ago? Didn't they play games with the oil prices before the election, hire the New Boss, and everything settled down?

On the subject of Alt. Fuels, DCX has been working on a fuel cell that uses Borax for fuel. Not sure how all the technicals work on it, but seems like a reasonable alt. to Gas. Good news for Diesal owners, DCX is moving in the Diesal Technology direction for Alt Fuels. They have gotton something like 30,000 hits about the new Liberty Diesals. They only projected 5000 units would be sold. Interestly enough, they have been exporting the Liberty CRD for 3 years now. We also export a Mini Van and PT Diesals. They run extremly well. I'm sure it wouldn't cost that much to bring the Exports up to EPA Emissions standards. They are doing it with the Lib, should be able to do it with the Mini Van and Pts just as easily. Perhaps if Demand is high enough on the Lib's we'll see Pts and Mini's too! I am glad I finally jumped in and bought one myself. There was a quote at work from the father of Diesal engines. Forgot his first name, but he said the Petrolium industry was a bad way to go for powering his engines. They were originally designed to run on biodiesal. Looks like we may eventually be able to come full circle!

The price difference here in Roy, Utah at a "Sinclair" station, is $. 45/gallon more than regular unleaded! MOst of the other stations around here are $. 35/gallon more than regular unleaded! I still feel it is GREED!

I heard something interesting on the radio this afternoon. It seems tha Willy Nelson is selling biodiesel in Carl's Corner, TX.

He pays $2. 11 for it and sells it for $2. 25.

What I'd like to know is whether the government has their hand in the till with biodiesel the same as they do with regular diesel. It seems to me that if they would suspend taxation on biodiesel (say for 5 years), more people would by it. Consumption would go up, followed closely by increased production. This would, in turn, lower the price.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting.

Pawpaw, your comments assume that the gov't cares what we pay for fuel. :(

No, they assume the government is interested in reducing our reliance on Middle East oil and that it is interested in increasing farm revenues with something besides subsidies.

Either way, it proves I'm way out in left field!
