hey guys i just subscribed and think this is the best site ever. I have so many questions i dont know where to begin. i have a 95 single cab 2 wd leveled on 33's auto. it is only straight piped and" turned up" which brings me to my first question. my friend and i moved the injector plate i think its also called the torque plate as far back as possible and now we are thinking of grinding it down. I did notice a big diiference in hp about 40 to my best guess enough to spin my 33's something it wouldnt do before. Do yall recomend this procedure or not. i definatley want more power what is the best bang for the buck i am looking into injectors. im just a poor college kid so my budget is about 1 grand any help would be greatly appreciated thanks alot.

Welcome to the TDR!

You WILL need to install gauges. Pyrometer (EGT) and transmission temp, at the minimum. Boost gauge wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Sliding the factory plate forward is risky. The exhaust temp. can get hot enough to cause the pistons to melt if it is held there too long. Before getting to carried away with the power increases, you will need to have the auto transmission beefed up to take the power.

You can get different cam/torque plates for more power. I just bought mine from www.tstproducts.com Hope to get it in tomorrow. Can also get them from many other vendors.

Welcome.

Spend that Thousand wisely and slide the plate to its stock position. then get some gauges and then you could slide your stock Plate. doing so will allow you to watch Closely what your engine is doing egt wise. It will take lots more than a Grand to replace that engine if you melt it down. Gauges are a easy to install item and are manditory 1st step if you want to keep your engine healthy. Good luck.

I spent under $500 on gauges, a used plate, governor springs, AFC spring, and timing. Dyno runs add another $200 to the bill. Well under your $1,000 budget ... so far.

Plan to spend a lot more money on a quality transmission rebuild if you want to play with horsepower and torque. My stock torque converter died very quickly after the mods.

thank you very much for your help guys, ihave been shopping around for guages and their pretty pricey, espescialy the EGT guage, any recomondations of where i can get good quality guages for a decent price.

Also my transmission is doing something odd. when i am on the highway 60-80 mph my truck will shift in and out of overdrive constantly could this be the tps, also my gas guage dosent work it always shows empty, i know my truck is a 95 so its kinda old but it only has 65,000 miles.

Sorry to hound yall with so many questions, but i would like to learn as much about my truck as possible. Thank you very very much for your help

My 95 auto did that in and out of overdrive thing right before it blew up JKouzez. My truck was bone stock with 78k miles at the time. Be prepared to spend several thousand dollars if your trans and/or torque converter let go. Have your trans serviced by a compentent shop for a small piece of mind.

Keep in mind that the Search feature - one of the options up in the header at the top of the screen is your best friend in finding info you need - the site FAQ has lotsa good stuff as well - they both can help keep the same questions from constantly resurfacing over and over again as new users find this excellent site.

Welcome to Dodge, Cummins, and the TDR!;) :)

thanks for the help guys just ordered the guages and a pillar mount, i will use the search feature now (sorry bout that) but as far as a transmission rebuild can i just get a new beefier torque converter ? or how about a transmission preassure loc tranmission ki?
