weekend trip to Coral pink Sandunes (pics)

Wanna haul a car from CO to ID?

This issue came up in "the vent", a reader write-in section in the Atlanta newspaper. There are actually people out there that take it upon themselves to act as "speed police". They think if they are doing the speed limit, then you should too.

I just love the reaction though when they look in their rear view mear and see my grill smiling at them.

I think it is funny when I am pulling my 32' enclosed and the yuppies think it will be easy to beat me to the skinny down! Lots of suprised looks on their faces! Happened this weekend coming back from the drag races at Joliet quiet a few times. I also got the hurry-up and merge, then go 5 under people, they get a REAL good look of my grill, thank goodness for 4 extra brakes on the trailer! LLI (left lane idiots) are my favorite, it is all about selfishness, ME, ME, ME!!!

Okay, I agree with almost all thats been posted, but traffic is horrendous here, (I really need to move ) and I find myself stuck in the left lane, can't move over, already tailgating someone who is tailgating someone who is tailgating someone, and I have someone on my ***. Get over? So they can gain one car length? Uh dude, I'd being doing 80 too if I could, get over it.

Really gotta be careful on hills. So many drivers just assume they're gonna pass you like you're standing still. Had a few try and merge over only to "omg" that truck never slowed down!

I commute 42 miles across town. It is amazing the kind of driving I see. On a regular basis I come across individuals who, at an intersection, think it is okay to turn left from the right lane, then look bewildered when you hit the horn and stomp the brakes to avoid hitting them.

Guess they learned in Mexico. That's how they do it.

There are times that I run in the hammer lane, if there is a lot of heavy slow traffic (IL has the split speed limit for the big trucks). I'm always doing a mirror check, for people that want to pass. Don't usually have any pass me on the right, but do occasionally. Some cars drivers ride your butt so close in a big truck, you can't see them back there.

I've been cut off plenty of times, or someone who isn't watching when they change lanes. This is where the BOMBs come in. I can get out of their way now so they won't hit me, AND smoke the **** out of them. :-laf

Safety, safety, safety!!!

Having just traveled from Michigan to Florida and back with my RV, I have seen almost everything mentioned in these posts, and more. That said, please keep your patience and do not add to the carnage by trying to 'educate' those idiots. Horn blowing will confuse them, riding their bumpers may cause them to take unpredictable actions, weaving at them may cause them to dart into the next lane, i. e. as one must admit, these drivers are obviously less then competent, and if their actions only hurt themselves one might be able to justify your response, but usually there is a good chance they may injure or kill innocent parties.

So you excellent drivers need to have patience with the idiots and even drive for them by keeping them as safe as possibly with proper spacing and even a little protective blocking, the life you save may be your own.

Now for the amusing part, just last Saturday I was at my wife's family reunion where three of her uncles were telling me they liked driving in the left lane because it was smoother out there. And were upset that a nephew had been stopped in Florida for 'spending too much time in the left lane'. Good thing their truck driver youngest brother was not there, or they might have gotten two 'ear fulls'.

Then one mentioned that he wished he could drive as fast as he could on the autobahn in Germany. He had no response when I told him I have driven 180 mph on the autobahn and still got passed like I was standing still. And that they enforce the 'no passing on the right' laws!! So you had better get over before getting a bumper in your 'boot'. Maybe requiring $240 for a drivers license in Germany is money well spent, as it does improve the driving somewhat.

Can't forget this one-

To stupid people, when I turn on my turn signals (you know, that little stick thingy to the left of the steering wheel, it does more than turn on the cruise. ), it DOES NOT mean to pass me before I can change lanes, even though there is MORE than enough room for me to do so. Don't need to hit the guy walking around his car. I just MIGHT have a reason for changing lanes that you can't see.

Rant off.

I don't intend to pick on truck drivers as most are experienced professional drivers. But, we all have seen the "new breed" of truckers. (Also taxi drivers)

My beef is when starting up a long hill, some trucker decides he wants to pass another truck so cuts you off in the left lane and then only passes at about 1 mph, or can't accelerate and drives next to the passed truck for several miles.

Not only is this illegal in most states, it is very selfish.

I agree with all the other stupid people posts.

Most drivers are selfish and only think of themselves, especially in So. Cal.

They have an agenda and can't let anything get in their way, even fire trucks.

Most people don't know how to merge anymore. If I can't move over and there is room in front or back of me I will keep a steady speed. It's their decision to merge in front of me or behind. But no, they come up along side and when there is no road left for them they just start moving over anyway. MAKE A DECISION BEFORE YOU GET THERE!

Funny how these same people suddenly remember they have an accellerator when they want to turn left or right in front of you eh? ... dolts! :-{}

I get the same thing here without the hills. Semi decides to pass another semi at 0. 1 mph faster while there is other faster traffic around. Typical car drivers are by far the worst though. You guys are right, it all goes back to selfishness. People just aren't tought to respect eachother anymore. I've been known to chase certain very selfish drivers down and express myself, verbally. Happened to me when I was a kid, I learned a lesson, now it's my turn. :) Maybe we should carry firearms openly. Not that we'd use them, just knowing they are there keeps the respect flowing most of the time.

I don't mean to pick on truck drivers either. There are still lots of good ones, but things are changing. My uncle is retired now, but drove tanker trucks all his working life. He says he's almost ashamed to say he is (was) a truck driver these days.
