The HVAC on our trucks isn't the best to start with, especially on the side windows. What happens when I put an A-pillar gauge mount on? Will I end up switching between defrost and dash vents to keep the driver's side window clear? I already have problems as it is, but I've learned to deal with it, switching to dash vent every 10 minutes or so 'till the window is clear, then back to defrost. Can anybody else share their experiences?

TIA,

-Adam

Adam, although you received some quick replies to your question, I'm thinking you are asking about frost/ice? If so, I have an A-pillar mount and see no problems with the defrost.....

Adam,

go and get a Stant 532090 thermostat. It is a 195 and even when it hit 40 below a couple of weeks ago I had plenty of heat for my feet and the windows, a first.

This is a problem I have as well. My pass. window defrosts fine, but the driver side always fogs. I never thought about my A-pillar mount being the cause, but it may be. I will try the thermostat mentioned; thanks a lot.

Most of the time the drivers side fogs up while driving is because of your bodies close proximity to the window. It is cold and your body and breath contain moisture that is given off and when they come in contact, ice! I even tried that no fog stuff. Worse mistake I ever made. Was even worse than the ice.

Uncle Mike,

You're right, I was asking specifically about frost/ice and the driver's side window.

WD,

Will that thermostat work on my '02? I thought they changed thermostats with the 24V engine? I also agree the anti-fog stuff is junk. Windows fog-up more now than when they were "untreated". I'll be writing my letter to Rain-X shortly.

Thanks for all the replies,

-Adam

Adam,

I forgot yours was an 02. If I'm correct from my reading the 24V forums that the thermostats on the newer engines were a 190 or 195 thermostat unlike the 180 thermos on the older cummins. (Some of you 24Valvers help me here) Could be wrong tho. The thermostat housing should be exactly the same. That Stant is a wide flange thermostat and fit mine perfectly. I have an extra one and if you want, call me, pm me or get ahold of me at work and we can pull yours in my garage and try it.
