OK, you gooroos of TD world:

Do the A-pillar gauge mounts place the gauge squarely between your eye and the pillar, so the "blind spot" behind the pillar gets no larger? Or do they hang off to the side enough to make the pillar wider at that spot.
These pillars are already too wide anyway. I sit with the seat well back since I'm tall.

Question 2- are your gauge lights wired into the dash dimmer so the darn things are not blinding at night? I like my dash real dim at night to maximize night vision and any bright spots annoy the heck out of me.

Thanks, all.

The pillar mount I have (got it from Diesel Injection, but don't know who makes it) adds a little to the blind spot, but I'm not sure if any of the others are any different, if you have your seat back. If you wire your guage lights into fuse position 5 they will be on the dimmer. I even added a little semi opaque paint to my bulbs to darken them a little more, so they don't distract me driving at night, but yet still allow me to see them.

Thanks, Rick.

Neat idea with the paint 'dimmer'.

Now you've reminded me of another must have!
Do your Hadley horns fit under the hood, or or they external?

I have got to get rid of those squeakers from the factory. #ad

Mike,

I tried the dual pod from Geno's, and sent it back because it felt too obtrusive (especially to my wife, who has to sit close).

Instead, I ordered a bullet pod, and a face plate for the hole. I put the combo in the bullet pod next to the A piller, and wired it to switched 12V. The combo has a very poor lite in it, and there is no need to dim it.

I used the face plate to put my BD pressure gauge in the hole, and wired it from the lite in the cubby hole below, which is on the dash dimmer.

Mike- I have the Geno's guages in my rig and don't have any problems with the giving me any additional blind spots. On the other hand, the Ventvisors I added, increased the blind spot tremendously. I frequently notice myself bobbing around the truck at intersections trying to see around the darn things.

Hey Mike,

Put a pair of Hadley Horns on and love em'

Real attention getter, joggers hate em'

Mounted mine behind the front bumper to the cross section behind the front spoiler. Just drill one hole to match the one already there. It's a square tube so it is kinda tricky putting getting the air line tightened. It's out of sight for surprises and in front of the tires to cut down on mud and rock damage. Hope ya like yours as much as I do.

Hi Mike, I have the Isspro gauges and pillar mount from Diesel Injection Service out of Lubbock. I installed the mount as low as I could so the gauges would not be in my face. Be sure to leave enough room so the dash facia can be removed (not excessively low). My opinion, they don't make the "blind spot" any wider, I still bob my head the same distance. I wired to the dimmer side and the bulbs in the gauges are kinda weak anyway and when I dim down the gauge lights are almost to dim. If I had to do it over I would wire direct to 12v. I'm thinking about doing that anyway but my fat hands don't like it under the dash.

About the airhorns

1. I have the 'Bully's'.
2. It took longer to find a place that I liked than it did to do the install. I mounted the horns crossways on the frame under and behind the radiator. The pump and the tank are mounted on the frame under
the passenger door. I ran all wiring and hoses inside the frame (this
took a while to feed these).
If you have an alarm system that honks the horn when you arm it, you should wire
your air horns to only work when the switch is on (otherwise it is damn loud in your garage when you lock your truck). After I decided where to put everything, I probably
installed it all in about 4 hours (but
I am not very speedy).

Comments: The whole package (horns, compressor, and tank) is very high
quality. The only thing I would change (and probably will) is to add an additional, or a bigger tank. The horns take a lot of air. You cannot honk them more than about 3 two
second burst in quick succession, or you
will run out of air. The bigger tank that can be ordered separately from Hadley is over twice as big. I will probably add it to what I have to greatly increase the capacity. The system also comes with a 50' hose to fill tires. I haven't tried it yet so I don't know how well it will work.

I don't like gauges above the dash either. I will mount mine--when they get here--in the hole left by removing the ashtray. That will put them next to the brake controller. I think that I will make a plate out of plastic or plywood, painted to match, to mount them. That should keep me out of trouble for a few hours.

Those air horns sound like a great idea. More and more, there are people out here that just need a blast. #ad

I have the two pod 'A' pillar from diesel injection also. It came with ISSPRO gauges. The reason the bulbs are dim is because they come with 24 volt bulbs. If you want them to be the same intensity as dash lamps; in install 12 bulbs.
Mine were hard to get use to. I find I now sit more to the right. Use to lean against door. Don't bother me any more. The 'A' pillar itself is very obtrusive when making left turn in town.

My 2 pod is perfect for the wife but add an additional 1" to the blind spot for me (seat rear on the rails and some tilt to the back). In town, I tend to do a lot of bobbing back and forth if the traffic is slow and the pedestrians are fast (and foolish).

Mike - I have the 3 gauge mount that sits on top of the dash and I have no problems seeing anything except the top of my hood. I like the location. I have my EGT ga. mounted on the far rt hole and it sits just above the tach. All I have to do is glance down to monitor the EGT. Next to that is the Boost, then the transmission temp. The lights in all of those are dimmer than the OEM gauges so there has not been a problem with glare at night, actually wish I could turn 'em up a little. Having the gauges there gives me a good place to hang my hat too. My 2 pennies worth.

I am interested in the VDO gauges. They look like the ones we have on our trucks. I also like the idea of the pointer lighting up like our truck gauges. I would like to get a set of them and put them in the A-pillar mount. Does anyone know where I can get the best price on the VDO gauges? I can get the A-pillar mount any where. Thanks
