I just got my A pillar mount and am looking for mounting help. Can I cut the stock clips off of the stock cover and glue them on the new one ? would JB weld work or anyone know of a better glue or a better way to mount it?

Thanks Mike

Two options, Using the provided clips the new A Pillar comes with, attatch the new one on top of the old one. OR, you just use one screw at the top of the A pillar to hold the plastic cover in place and discard the original. That what i ended up doing since it is much more secure then teh spring clips alone. Mine kept dropping, now with the screw, it is rock solid.

Don't discard your old A-pillar. Rather hang on to it for that rainy day or sell it. I've installed both an A-Pillar(Dad's Truck) and a Gauge Works Dash Pod(My Truck). After using the dash pod and seeing just how easy it is to view etc... there may be quite a few people hoping to switch positions and may need a replacement A-Pillar to replace their previously damaged ones.

use the screw

I used an expanding machine screw mollybolt in the existing hole (after I wallered it out with a drill) in the top of the A pillar. Then drilled a small hole in the plastic for the screw. Well, drilled 2 holes actually, messed up on the first one. The molly bolt kept trying to turn when I was expanding it, so I used a drift to make 2 small indentions beside the pillar hole for the little tabs on the molly to engage. Werks reel good.

We always use the gauge pod to cover the old pillar and fasten them together using push pins. This way the stock clips hold the pod with gauges in place. If your pillar has the little speaker, you will need to cut that part out of the pillar to install the gauge pod.

Just installed mine last week. Used a nice stainless screw with a stainless "trim washer" same kind as used on many boats. Old a-pillar is in tact and on the shelf for safe keeping. It looks good, stays put and it takes me 30 seconds to pull the pillar down to mess with/change guages. :)

any chance you could post a drivers eye view picture of the pod ? I wear progressive bi-focals and have convinced my self that the A pillar would cause a focal length problem.

Gauge Works Dash Pod?!

I tried to order the dash pod from Geno's and was told it was on back order. I've yet to see one installed, but thought I might like it better than the 3-gauge A-pillar mount.

Which side of the instrument cluster does your pod sit on, left or right? Does it block any of your view?

I've not installed the A-pillar yet, so it's not too late yet? Does anyone know where I can find one in stock.

I got mine @ Banks. Painted it to match dash. looks fine & does not block the view. (stock pillar blocks enough without addin to it).

Yes, pictures please. I now have my gauges mounted down below the ashtray, but they're hard to see in a hurry, so I want to move them up. I just think the pillar mount may be too close to my face.

Thanks,

Blake

Will the dash mout Gauge pod work with the A pillar Pod? I mean if the dash pod is on the left side near the A pillar?, or will the curved base make it have to be to close and therefore interfere with the pod?

The biggest problem with the Autometer dash pod, is finding one.

That's why I went with the individual pods, Plus I wanted 4 gauges.

Autometer stopped production on these without warning and they are/were very hard to find.

Some vendors were selling them and informing the customer that there was an indefinite backorder.

Looks kinda cool but i'm concerned about reflection on the windshield both in bright sun and at night. I know that if you put a sheet of paper on the dash during the day the reflection can be a bit distracting

I doubt you would have reflection problems with a black pod like that.

Where are these designed to fit on the dash? I have a two-holer that's designed to go to the far left. I didn't use it as I was worried about blocking the view, but I think I'll try it now.

at Black Mtn Diesel's opening...

I saw many trucks with A-pillar AND dash pod mounts. I'm going to start with the A-pillar. I was concerned with visibility around the already thick A-pillar, but I after checking out a few in person, it's not a problem.
