I remember reading a thread awhile back about a couple of people doing an install and saving the original a-pillar cover in case the gauges are removed & truck is sold. I`m ready to do my install & need some help on how to do it this way & not have to punch holes in the original to route tubing & wires. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. TIA P. S. can be reached @ mhmckie@aol com , pictures would be helpful :) :D

MTNGOAT , looks like since no one else replied that may be the best money spent. On the otherhand I have a habit of driving whatever I own until the wheels fall off so why worry about it. Just did`nt want you to think that I did`nt read all the responses ;) thanks:D

Not a problem!!!! I look at everything on this forum. . I spend a lot of time just reading what people have to say. .

Don't use the OEM A-pillar cover. Many of us have used only the replacement cover and one sheet metal screw. Here's mine. The sheet metal screw is shown in the extreme upper left corner of this photo.

My OEM cover is in my garage.

Mines in the garage too. I used the full pillar as a replacement. I used a plastic automotive fastener in a 1/4" hole that you will see when you pull the cover off. Works great and my old cover is still like new.

Make that 3 for using the replacement only. Only I used nylon 10-24 bolt I got at Home Depot instead of a sheet metal screw and drilled/tapped a hole in the very top. I can't remember what it is called but it is like a washer with a "top" that snaps shut on it. The bolt head is then covered by the "top" and I painted it just like the piller.

:) Thanks Thomas,J Stull,&R Blair for your responses, thats the ideas that I was looking for. I knew that after awhile some of you guys that had done this before would respond. Thats why I tell everyone with a CTD about the TDR and its the best money they can spend each year. You get more back in other peoples knowledge than you will ever spend in dues. Like the credit card commercial says PRICELESS! :D
