My wife was going through some old photos yesteday and says, "Hey, what kind of car is this your Dad had?". Hmmmm... I know he had a couple Studebakers, maybe a Nash or a Kaiser, a '56 Buick, all before becoming a pretty staunch Ford man. It took us a little bit to figure out it is a Dodge Coronet, replete with ram's head ornament. Never remember him mentioning it.

On Edit: We stared at the blurry old photo for some time before my smarter half took a photo of the photo with her phone, and it cleared it up immensely, and we were then able to read the badging. These newfangled phones are pretty nifty!

and slide on the snow while hanging on to the bumpers!

We use to latch onto the bumpers of 396 Chevelle's and Nova's (the main hot rods in town). Thinking about it now we were not the brightest bulb in the room with the dry patches we would cross. Wear out a pair of shoes pretty quick tho.

Ours was 442, 63.5 Galaxy, camaros, mustangs, fairlanes, , and the occasional highboy ford 4x4. We also were probably a little nuts back then...…..and we hunted before and after school. We also had guns hanging on the gun racks in the back windows of our trucks(during hunting season).....in the school parking lots and nobody took a second look.

42 Dodge PU (What's a heater?), 53 Ford Flatbed (Optional Heater not included), 53 & 57 Chebbys & Fords, and a 60 Buick LeSabre (Heat at last!). Dad would tie two ropes on the back bumpers and attach an inner tube to each rope. One neighbor had 6 kids, so we tied two more inner tubes (the bigger ones) in series (total of 6, 3 each side) and had a blast. Word got out and many of the neighboring kids came over. I think we had upwards of 12 kids exuberantly enjoying the rides at one time. Who needed a boat? And the results was a road nicely groomed afterward. Loved country life!
