Anyone know what they used for trailer brakes in those days? That truck appears to be an early '30's model Chevy, maybe even had mechanical brakes? It looks too small for air.
I can't imagine it. Some of the hills that my family members tackled with little R-190 single axle trucks with tag axles are pretty steep. Climbing in first gear hoping the hell the little BD six cylinder had sack enough to make the top.
When I was a kid we had a local trucking company that had some of those Bulldog trucks and some long nose GMC's, all propane powered. They are kinda cool now but as a kid I thought they were ugly One of the long nose trucks had a 702 V/12 that I was in awe over, basically two 351 V/6's joined together.
