Firearms prices ??

How many amp-hours in the stock batteries??

Just inthe Middle of all this Panic of Rolling Block Outages, Babcock & Wilcox "One of the Largest Boiler/Power Plant Makers" Is Going Bankrupt. Going out of Business forever.
This Company Has Built almost Every Boiler for Southern California Edison Company.

Who's Next?, PG&E? And Or SCE?.

Has anyone out there seen the John Carpenter Movie Called "They Live"?. The Movie Stars Rowdy Rodney Piper. In all this Power Crisis, I am Reminded of this Movie.

Ths Power Crisis was caused by the state Government, Now The State of Kommiefornia is getting into the Power Brokerage Business, Way to Close to a Central Controled Economy= Comunism!. #ad

The Power Plant I used to Work at in LongBeach Ca (LongBeach Generation Station) For So Cal Edison, Is Running every unit they Have all 9 of them. 3 of the Units they running had a poor report card on the 6th and 7th stage Blading in the Compressor Section of these Gas Turbines. They have Cracks at the Root of several Blades. My Old Friends told me, They have these 3 units roped off to personel for safety, No personel are to come with 100ft of these units while they are running.

The PUC and the Companys who own these Formerly SCE Power Plant are running them into the Ground, With no end in sight. No Power Plants, No Economy.

All of the Interties on the Grid only support around 15,000 MegaWatts, But the State as a Whole use's around 50,000 MegaWatts at its highest peak. The Interties cant handle entire the load of Kommiefornia. We are S-O-L!

For you Non-Kommiefornia Types Here a WebSite for ya www.caiso.com .

Hey DieselRam,

Look at what they(enviro-wakos) have done to the nuclear power industry!! Or the coal fired electric power plants!!

I'm glad I live in Texas!!

Bill

We are seeing the ads on TV for the lawyers advertising for people to join their lawsuit against B&W. Call 1 800 Get Rich. It's the asbestos thing... ... ... ... .

B&W was the world leader in steam power systems, having built so many of the Navy's plants, and enjoying such a great reputation for quality and endurance. Now, as are so many industries in our country, they are being forced out of profitable business by those who have never produced a product, device or process for the good of all mankind: scab lawyers.
Do we need tort reform, and reasonable limits on suits against industry, or do we watch our industrial base crumble further and escape offshore? Better we write our congress people and demand reform. It's the good guys turn for the next four years, make it count!!!!!

It seems that the enviromental wacko's in Kalifornia have shot themselves in the foot. They havent built a power plant in HOW MANY YEARS? They get a lot of their energy from other states. Now these states are saying they need the power for themselves, and Kalifornia can take a hike. I hate to say it but they get what they deserve. I feel sorry for Northern California, because they are seldom a part of the stupidity and liberalism that is so much a part of Southern Kalifornia. The North is at the mercy of the South, in this state. Now all have to suffer. Glad I Live In Texas Also.

CALIFORNIA might ROCK but it does it in the DARK

And about the 19. 5 million that was defaulted to my employer, maybe we should start slicing pieces off of the state till we get it down to a managable size.

Not good news at all... .

Companies left and right are falling... who knows where it will end...

Interesting FYI... Babcock and Wilcox made that faulty part (steam condenser I believe) that caused the Three Mile Island incident. something to do with a pipe that was shaped like the U on your kitchen sink.....
Now if I could ever find that book about TMI again. . #ad

Bill, I'm Glad that you are Glad to Live in Texas.

But, Be Fore Warned, Your State (Texas) Is also Looking at Deregulation, Along with 26 other States.

Some States have done their homework on this and some have not, Those who have, are doing ok, Those who have not are a microcosm of California.

We Have over 30 million people in this state, So a Little Problem is realy amplified.

You Can Feel Safe and Confident for Now, But Lets Wait a Year or two.
Doug.

I read that thread about "where the friendliest are"and Texas seemed to be one of the big answers. Why are those folks always whining about how bad California is. . Envy perhaps.

CALIFORNIA ROCKS megawatts or not!!

That's a shame. I'm at work presently looking at one of "my" B&W's.
It's an FM type, 50K PPH. A little one.
We have a Cleaver Brooks fire tube sitting next to it. What a POS compared to the B&W.

Bill, Do ya feel a bit ****** when the a$$holes from elsewhere take over and ruin what you grew up with? I remember when those morons with their "I love N. Y. stickers" came in by the droves... now you see "I love Micoacan" sp? GO BACK IF IT'S SO D**N GREAT!

This thread is going to pot!

Yes, it is sad that ol B & W will no longer be. But we should not be so shocked. My boss sent me to pick up 2 Porter Cable "pancake" compressors on Wednesday... they are made in Taiwan! #ad

Glad your a REAL TEXAN #ad

The old family farm that my grandfather grew up on and farmed is under Lake Lewisville, a water supply lake for Dallas. People in those early years settled in the creek and river bottoms to be close to water and the more fertile land.

Some interesting reading on TMI can be found at http://www.nrc.gov/SECY/smj/shorthis.htm#Three Mile Island
The part that didn't work right was a relief valve (some do have u-shaped connecting piping). Although sold to the utility by B&W, it was actually produced by another company and sold to B&W for use in their power plant.

On another note, B&W's nuclear arm was sold to the French years ago. They are now a part of Framatome Technologies.

California Rocks... Unplugged!

I work about 15 mi. from our closest nuke plant and am happy it is there. Gotta love Texas!

one of the reasons the peoples republic of california has not built new power plants in a while- it seem that many communites have the NOT IN MY BACK YARD mentality. #ad
even silicon valley shows this tendancy with cisco systems opposing a co-gen plant close to their new campus site in south san jose- the sf east bay has a co-gen plant at least 9+ months away from completion but it wont help now- Ya if you live outside of ca you might be better off right now but watch out- don't be spittin in the wind, you might get wet---
