Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) A silent lurker with question

Hi all, I have been a member of the TDR for about two years and enjoy all of the info on the site and in the magazine. This is my first post so take it easy on me. I have a question regarding the AFC housing. I currently have mine removed because of a suggestion made by a friend and was curious if I should put it back on. The truck runs great but will only hit 30# of boost. I was wondering if that is due to the fact that the housing is removed. I have a 95 5spd with 102,000 miles. I have the fuel stop removed and 370 injectors with the timing set at 19*. The turbo is an hx35 with a 16cm non wastegated housing and I have an afe air filter. Any insight would be appreciated.

I recommend running the afc if only to keep from smoking folks out. We don't need any bad press or more emissions regs based on people seeing clouds of smoke. I run the afc with medium spring and a bunch of clicks on it, even at dyno days. Obviously if it hurt power significantly, I'd have it out at least on the dyno. Properly adjusted, it helps you keep smoke to a minimum without killing power.



I'd also put in a torque plate, even if a very rich one like the zero. If you break the rack stop pin, you will learn how expensive Bosch parts are
