Yesterday Philip and I made a 770 mile round trip from northern Indiana to Nashville, TN to pick up two hay rakes. We took my 1993 W-350. After 4 hours of listening to the transfer case lever buzz, we came up with a solution. We were in Kentucky when this solution was discovered, so it is OK for a couple of Yankees to do this. :D

BTW, 18 hours in a 1st gen at 70 mph will make you do some strange things.

On a bit more serious note, I thought I would share some numbers. I was pulling a 33' flatbed gooseneck that weighs in at 4500 lb empty. Loaded it weighed in at 7800 lbs. Over the 770 miles I got an average of 11. 85 mgp. Pretty good for an old truck with 286K on the clock. I am running a PDR HX-35/16 with a custom ground fuel pin. Fuel screw is in some. Max boost is 28 lbs. The turbo and fuel pin made a heck of an improvement on towing. Well worth the effort. :D

As for the tune on the bungee, it was "Dueling Banjos". Patent is pending, but I think I will get lauged out of the patent office. Duct tape did help, but not enough.

As for parts lost on the trip, lost the left rear brake due to a hold down clip breaking and letting the rear shoe come loose. The right rear axle seal started leaking again. Plus the cheesy dual exhaust setup is loosing the left pipe due to all of the pounding down the interstate. Time for a 4" exhaust. Other than that it was a fun trip.

I used one of those "Kentucky" fixes a few years back, I found that it just takes a little tension at the bottom of the leaver to stop the rattle:D

Maybe we need to elevate bungee usage to the level of duct tape usage. ;)

Bungie technology. Ya gotta love it.

Who said necessity was the mother of invention? Bah humbug.

It was laziness and aggravation!!!!

Bubble gum was in the glovebox for backup right?
