Any news on the turbo? If the turbo won't spin freely then how would the exhaust brake sticking be the cause?

Sounds like you might have taken out a bearing - journal or thrust - since you are using a box and boost elbow.

Bocifus:

The problem turned out to be a combination of two things. Cummin's NW found a pack rat had stuffed my filter box with rags, insulation, and a host of other things and it was stuffed full. The other thing was a partially sticking exhaust brake.

The dealer in Cottage Grove claimed to have the best diesel mechanic in the state, but he couldn't solve my problem. He replaced a lift pump that was good and had DC void my warranty, and charged me nearly $600. 00 for it.

I just sued the dealer in small claims court for the cost of replacing a good pump and charging me for it. I won the judgment and just got their check in the mail the other day.

See my post "I WON!"

I called the customer relations dept. at DC and from what I understood the warranty was voided only for the lift pump replacement. I informed them I was sueing the dealer and that I had filed a complaint with the FTC against Daimler/Chrysler for voiding it without proving my mods had caused the problem.

I guess I will have to swing by my local dealer and see if I have any kind of warranty left. After all the static I have caused over this I probably never will have a warranty again. In fact they might not even sell me another truck. Black list me with all their dealers.

If they have indeed voided my warranty I will be following up on the cancellation with the FTC to see if they are going to do anything. If not I will start writing some of these high paid politicians we have been paying for and maybe put them to work.

I don't know about that Dewdo. ;)

You thumped 'em one time already in court, I'd think they might be a little gun-shy about taking you on again. :D

Hope it all works out in your favor.

Good for you. As long as it doesn't break your budget or your BOMB account, I'd go for everything you can get. I'm not really surprised by any of this though, what with my experience with our local 5 Turds dealer and just customer service in general. What Bill offered to do for you is what I have been told used to be the norm. It's too bad that we have to praise Bill so much for being a decent sort. His example should be the rule, rather than the exception.

Bill and his family are great people. I met them when I had my TC and VB installed at his shop a couple of years ago. Not too many shops will allow the customer to look over the mechanic's shoulder and ask questions while they work.

In the on-going problem with DC and my warranty I'm not looking to get anything other than what DC promised me, and what the Magnuson/Moss act tells me I should get. Nothing more and nothing less. Just fair treatment.

If my "EXTENSIVE MODIFICATION'S" causes a problem I am more than willing to pay for the solution to that problem if I am shown that my mods caused it.

I will go to great length's to get fair treatment including courts. Give an old disabled vet and an old fart like me a computer as well as a lot of free time and it can be dangerous. It can create a lot of H&D (hate & discontent) among the offenders.

I don't know if I ever thanked Bill K for his offer last Feb. or not since I was on the road and didn't have access to a phone line for E-mail very often. Anyway Bill, it was a wonderful offer you made, and I am sure you have made the offer to many other people who found themselves in a bind on the road or otherwise. A hearty thanks to a great guy and business operator. (why can't DC find people like that)
