Fuel Gouge?-you Decide

We've had this old GM stepvan in front of the shop for almost a year now. Before that, it hadn't been run for years. Under the hood is an old rotary pump powered 4BT Cummins diesel

Today, on a whim we decided to put a battery charger on it and see what it would take to get it running again so we could move it out from in front of the building.

You're not going to believe this, but this old motor, which hadn't been run in many years, FIRED right up on the second try(had to pump the pedal a little).

Sat there and purred like a new motor and we drove it around to where it neede to be.

I just thought it was so cool to hear that little motor fire right up and run like it did.

I do know where I can get my hands on a old Ford Bronco 4WD. Bet that little motor would shoehorn right in there.

Bill, you coming out this weekend?

Oh, and the Magic Monster Cooler will be in attendance. Had to wait until at 7:00am to be able to fill it up. :D :D

Deo's (TDR member "therabbittree") 1st Gen sat for a few years and we got it running without much of an issue.

A gasoline soaked rag made it fire RIGHT OFF when cranking alone didn't do much but prime the oil and fuel system. :-laf

Beers,

I bought an '89 that hadn't run in 5 years that I know of. Added oil, pumped the LP, put in a battery, it started on the 1st turn. :D

Then I looked under it and saw the stream of oil coming out of the bell housing. At that point I figured out why there were 4 cases worth of empty qt oil jugs in the box! :-laf

Gitch asked: "Bill, you coming out this weekend?"

Wasn't aware of any event this weekend. I'll be tailgating @ the Rice v. UH game Saturday, & working Sunday.
