This is some information for those of you that use enclosed car haulers and have a AAA membership card in Southern or Northern California for roadside assistance. I have the membership card AAA Plus with RV/MC added. The advertisement that got me to sign up for the additional RV/MC assistance stated that it was for RV, trailers and motorcycles. The card reads "Nationwide Service". I tow a 24' enclosed car hauler. I usually use the trailer to haul my car if going out of state or really long distances. I had a flat tire 2 years ago on my way to Arizona, but was on the otherside of Desert Center and AAA guy came out and changed tire. Nice, didn't have to take car out of trailer in 111 degree heat, everything went well. End of last year I was in Pleananton (No. Cal. ) and had a tire go down. Call AAA and girl asks if my trailer has a toilet and running water - nope. Well your not covered then she says? I ended up changing it myself. So last week I got the renewal notice and decided to get the story. I found out that that I'm covered only in So Cal, where I seldom tow the car, here I drive it. If I'm in out of So Cal area I get no coverage. In fact the lady at the ACSC office wasn't sure that I'm even covered in So Cal because it's a trailer. There is nothing on their advertisement that clarifies trailer, and she admitted that. So if you have a motorhome or motorcycle, there is no issue. I would get clairfication on where the coverage area is, nationwide?? If you have a car hauler, your not covered. Ask questions and don't make assumptions like I did. Obviously I'm canceling the RV/MC portion and looking around for someone else that might cover me.
Now is there any roadside assistance programs that are nationwide and might cover the trailer? Would appreciate any info.
