Last night we had a pretty bad rain storm and this morning there was snow / ice accumulated on the truck. I jumped in the truck about noon, and low-and-behold, I have a puddle of water in my floorboard ! AARRGH! Then I see where it is coming from. There's a steady drip coming THROUGH the overhead computer :mad:!

Sorry, I had to let off a little steam. This just hasn't been my week #@$%!

Yep, I have cab lights. I figure that's what is leaking, but I'm going to have to do a little more in depth checking. It's gonna be a looong week.

Hello Gizmo, I have the same problem. Just haven't had time to look into it. Let me know what you find. Are you going to try to fix it yourself, or take it in to the :--) the dealer? I think that there have been a couple of posts, on this problem.  Kinda makes you want to jump and shout, huh?Oo. Oo. Oo. :-laf

DIY

I had the same problem, plus the cargo/stop lamp on the rear of the cab. The dealer will just replace gaskets, unless you have a good one.

Get a tube of RTV,remove lenses, coat edges with RTV,replace. Works for me.

Well, it ain't just too bad. It only leaks when it rains! Or when snow/ice melts. Or when there's a heavy dew. Otherwise, there's no problem, right? :)

Were mine cab lights leaking, I *might* try spreading a tiny bit of grease on the roof and on the lense, then wiping it off. Next I would apply some silicone RTV sealant on both sides of the gasket. The grease should help prevent the silicone from sticking to the lens and roof, but still allow it to make a good seal.

Of course, it *could* be that the cab lights just aren't cinched down well enough.

I had the same problem. It is not the gasket leaking, the little plastic washers under the screws that hold the lamp to the roof are cracked and the water is wicking down the screws into the cab. Check the washers under the screw heads. Can't get washers seperate have to buy whole lamp at $16. 00 each they come complete with new gasket to cab and two new screws with the plastic washers. Part number for lamp is 55077067-AA.

Yep mine did it too

Mine did it while it was under warranty and I had DC fix it. The leak was the washers on the cab lights and they replaced all 5 of them even though only the center one leaked. But the next month the trip comupter quit working and they had to rplace it and my garage door opener. Was kind of a pain in the A$$ to have your brandnew truck leak when it rained dut my dealer fixed everything in a hurry and gave me a free oil change to boot. :D

Hey Gizmo!

Definetly had the very same problem you did. I took it to the dealer, who wanted to keep it a day or two, and WOULD NOT give me a loaner car! Needless to say I wasn't real happy about that.

So I decided to fix it myself. What I used was 3-M strip-calk. Part number 051135-08578 black.

I don't remember the price, but it's not too expensive. Definetly get a bunch in a box, about 60 feel. It comes in 1/4 inch strip a foot long. What I did was take each individual clearance light completly off. Next, I laid a continuous bead approximately in the middle of the gasket area. Next I took a small amount and wrapped it around the top area of the screws themselves. Screwed them all back together, and when I did that some of the calk oozed out of the top of the screw head when I tightened it down.

I just took my finger and pushed the excess into the top of the screw. IMHO I don't possible see how any water can ever get in there again.

Hope this idea helps you bud.

PS - you can get the 3-m Strip Calk at just about any auto body parts store.

Cool, thanks fellas, I'll try a little of it all... just to be sure. I'm definately going to fix it myself, to save the hassle. But I am going to inform my dealer about the problem, just so that it will be on record ... as if they really give a flying flip .

Thanks again! I'll let y'all know this weekend what I find.

Hey Gizmo,

Let me know what you find out, and how you fixed it. No sign of leaks here but it's probably only a matter of time.

Thanks!

Eric

Well, I went out this morning to inspect the problem. Guess what, I'm missing one of the plastic washers on two different lights and the same two screws were not run down to the light. It appears that the washers broke and fell off, thus leaving the screws sticking up. So I ran the screws down and siliconed around them. I checked to make sure the rest were tight and siliconed around them too. Then I doused it with the water hose to make sure they didn't leak... They don't.

Thanks again guys! My weekend is looking better already . . . Oo.

Hey BMatlock,

I just caught that you're from Beaumont. Know where Saratoga is? That's where I'm from originally. Cool, good to have another member close at hand :D !
