Hey guy's, I have a co-worker that is thinking about a 99 Q/C LB 2500 4x4 with 36,000 miles on the clock and also comes with the 5th wheel plate for $21,000. 00. He wants a 4 door short box Dmax  . I need some help to convince him this is a good truck and great buy. I am 12V owner myself and don't know much about 24v. Any and information would be great. Thank you all in advance.

How do you know if it is the 53 block? If you can make it as simple as posiple so I can explain it to him, that would be great.

Thanks

Randy

Left front side of the block right above the oil pan rail, the numbers are 1" tall. Lay underneath the front end and you can see it with a flashlight. :D

Here's NADA with my guesses.

I paid $15,000 for mine, stretched w/RoadMaster sleeper, had 120k on the clock. It was junk, I've put another $10k in it at least. My best advice, get an oil analysis, see if he can get the maint history, scan for codes, check fuel pressure, have a leakdown test done, have someone that knows butt from hole in the ground look at all running gear. . . then pray alot. 5th wheel plate means someone's been towin sumpin, if it's an auto or even a stick I'd have the transmission looked at.

Cheers,

Too much money

30,000 or 150,000 not much difference once your out of warranty. I would keep shopping. I almost gaurantee it is a 53. He could buy a member truck that has all the goodies and big money dumped in it for arond 15k. Now if it was newer and had no 53 and some warranty he might be ok. Why pay 21k and still foot the bill for a VP, transmission etc. I don't get it

Thank you all for your help. I will let my co-worker know and I did tell him to check out this web site. This is a great site and very happy that I became a member.

If he has to replace the injectors in a DMAX that cost alone would fix the 53 with a new block and have change left over.
