I am interested in installing some aux or driving lights in my 01. I didnt get them with the truck. Darn. I was told the stock are much bigger then the hole in the plastic bumper insert ( stock location). I am considering many different types right now , so not sure of size. My question is how and where to setup or install them and where for all the wire hookups. At this time not sure on where I will mount them. Thanks
My truck came with fog lights. Thay work vary well. If you get them later, the bumper insert will need to be changed and the head light switch replaced. I bought PIAA touring light to add wider visability and to reach out a bit. they work vary well. Size does'nt seem to matter, as they are rather small. A cracked lens cost almost $50. 00 to replace They come ready to wire, but take a little time to work on your lay out.
TBarrett, D-C has a kit to add the factory fog lights to your truck. It includes a new headlight switch, wiring, brackets, and replacement inserts for your bumper. There are several sources of D-C parts on the web that purport to offer the best prices on items like this. Your local friendly 'stealer', as some like to say, can also source it for you. It may not be the most efficient set of auxilliary lights you can add, but at least it gets you all the parts you need in one box. I bought the kit for my '99, and I plan to expand on it.
Having said that, the aftermarket is wide-open on auxilliary lights. There have been many threads on the TDR regarding lights. You might find the search button on your screen below this post and search on such things as 'lights','lighting','driving lights','auxilliary lights', etc. ad nauseum. LOTS of good info and opinions in the archives through the search engine. Have fun!
