AVNote,

I wouldnt get the 5 inch system, theres alot of guys out here that will advise not to also because your not producing alot of horsepower, also with the 5 inch system I've read you lose alot of torque, staying stock. Someone will correct me if im wrong.

I got my system off of Mark Craig's shop, talk to him, he should be able to get you a better deal then 5 hundy for that other system. Im not promoting other peoples shops, just the ones that kick down with the deals, you know.

I also got my aeroturbine installed yesterday where I took my cat off and my system sounds alot better, quietier but better.

Five inch only for big horsepower like 500. It was discussed here many times before and dyno numbers showed that the 5 inch on mostly stock hurt torque.

AVNote,

I messed up bro, the price you got for the MBRP DUAL System is a great price for 5 hundy, DUALS look sharp. I got the 4" MBRP system.

I got the aeroturbine installed after I took my cat off, the MBRP system I had was alittle too loud for me, I could only imagine if I would have been towing my trailer. But after installing the aeroturbine it muffled the sound alot, also alot of people do use the aeroturbine instead of a muffler, you might want to consider that an option if you want a loud system, just remember if you get the aeroturbine you have to install it far ahead of the muffler if you keep your muffler, you might want to consider that an option and save some cash, it up to you.

I also have a 4" straight pipe that you can use instead of your CAT, you would have to cut the cat then either clamp this piece or weld it to it. Its yours if you want it Ill even throw in the clamps needed.

AVNote,

you can order the aeroturbine and the silverline dual system on this website, their phone number is at the bottom of their site, check out the windows file on the site as well and you can see what the duals look, sound, and what they produce, although I noticed that ever since I removed my cat I dont produce anymore black smoke, so that part sucks.

i think im going to try the mbrp duals with the cat delete pipe...

i havnt gotten a chance to crawl under truck yet. . is the cat welded on ? or just clamped ?

About Exhaust

I recently installed a high performance muffler I purchased from Rowells Inc. NC. on my 2005 3500. It has a nice mellow tone especially when towing my Teton Fifth Wheel. No objectionable loud sounds at higher RPM's. Also found my fuel mileage on this truck to be about 2 mpg higher than my 2001 while towing. Only have 4,000 miles on the truck so plan to see the mileage improve.

Mark- I have an 03 SO SW auto. I am getting the bug, although for what I use the truck for, I am satisfied with the current power. My search has concluded, and I am most likely going to order a MBRP Aluminized 4" Dual setup, and after reading the last thread on the EDGE EZ- I will likely order that as well. (Although I am seeing a few used ones pop up in the classifieds). Can you give me some sort of idea of fuel savings and if the claim of a 200* EGT reduction is indeed accurate.

The trucks sole purpose is to tow a (gross) 5. 5k TT across PA twice annually. It lives in the barn during the winter, and still has less than 9k miles, so I really dont need SS. Can I use the one MEGS tip I have and order another from Genos? Not a deal breaker by any means.

The same applies to the HP gain, as reliability comes before everything else. I do indeed have a 47RE. While this doesnt scare me really. . if it breaks, its breaks, but being a rv more than a truck, I dont want any downtime. Thanks for all your time- look forward to putting on the duals-

Mods- sorry if I bent the rules here. I did not mean to steer this into a engine or trans post. If I am in the wrong please delete & I will p. m.

I have a 2004. 5 quad cab short bed. I did a complete turbo back 4 inch with a straight thru muffler. It is pretty loud outside of the truck, but with the windows up it is not loud inside the truck under load, but you can hear it.

Just an FYI. you will not need a new downpipe. The stock downpipe on 2004 and up is 4 inches at the turbo and is already stainless and mandrel bent. I bought a Moto Blue set from RPM outlet. for 388. 95

I have a friend that has a 2004 and he just had the muffler cut off and a replacement piece of pipe put in its place. It is really loud, but it is kind of annoying in the cab under load.

I agree, I love mine (MBRP Duals). They had a little res when first installed, but it went away a little later and the exhaust got a little louder. Not much but it did change. I LOVE them. Really sound good from a dead stop under load with a heavy loaded trailer on the back :D

mbrp single

This one is just a sound clip of an aeroturbine, unfortunately aeroturbines are sold individual and need to be fabbed in.

aeroturbine

Here are a couple from diesel dyanamics(note. I could not get these to work. maybe I don't have proper software)

DD4inch

DD5inch

Could only get the MBRP duals and the Silverline single to play. The duals were great. Thanks, Doc

Anybody have a good sound clip of a 4" turbo back, straight on an '03? Preferably under load Oo.

I'm getting ready to go true 4" but don't want to lose the sound I have. I basically have stock exhaust, but completely gutted the OE muffler. I love the sound, has a very deep growl with a strong "braaaaappp" through the 23-2800 RPM range. I hope going straight piped will not get rid of that deep throaty sound. If it does I guess I could just buy a big 4" in/out muffler and gut it too :D

I can get a sound clip if someone could host it and compare against a true 4" straight.

I just put on the MPRB COOL DUAL EXHAUST and it sounds pretty good and reasonably priced from USDIESELPARTS . COM price $580 . 00 shipped to my door it is cat back exhaust you dont want to mess with your warranty MATT 2004. 5 silver laramie dually 4X4 QC with to much damm stuff to list :-{}
