Pretty sure this has been talked about before-but I couldn't find it with a search. I've got a used set of 275's that I'm gonna slide into the Silver Cloud... do you reuse the copper sealing washers that came with the injectors or order new ones? Gearing up to do the job early next week and I want to make sure I've got all my ducks in a row.

TIA

Jason

The washers are about $1. 60 each from Cummins. You really should not take the chance with used washers, especially with how cheap new ones are. I would not re-use them.

Edit: The washers are designed to crush and seal when the injectors hold downs are torqued, they are not designed to be re-used. That is why I would not re-use them. JMO.

I would get them Pop tested at a good fuel Injection shop before installation. Yon defenitely need new washers. The FI shop can probably beat the price from Cummins with genuine Bosch washers.

That's pretty much what I thought....

I'll order some washers up before I start-probably should get the intake air horn gaskets too just to be safe.

Thanks for the advice fellas...

Jason, I would also not stick used injectors in unless I know where they came from and that they were carefully installed and removed from the previous vehicle. You would not want to install an injector that has hit the floor, got debris in any of the ports, etc. I would look them over very carefully first.

I swapped my injectors anout 5 weeks ago. I did not have to replace the gasket on the air intake, but did remove it in order to get the valve cover off.

They did come from a reputable source

The set of injectors I picked up came right from Edge-apparently they used them for R&D purposes..... amount of use wasn't specified but I'm pretty sure they didn't see a bunch of time. Got a buddy up here who's an Edge distributor-he got 1 set and I bought the other.

I will give them a thorough going-over though before I slam them in to make sure they didn't get smashed in shipping etc.

Update!

Took the injectors to a diesel shop today for a pop test-they all are OK. Waiting for new sealing washers, injector O-rings and intake air horn gaskets to show before I tackle the project... .

Thanks to all for the advice.
