2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission ? about sport grills

is there a difference between a sport and a non sropt grill?



i know one is crome and one isn't but i want to paint one white to match and there is a guy on e-bay that has both and says they are different. . one is $38 and the sport is $149. .

Up until '98 the regular & sport grilles were the same shape & size - one was painted, one was chrome.



From '99 (if I recall correctly) to '02 the Sport front end changed, the grille is larger (taller), the Sports got new twin-bulb headlights and the front bumper cover was changed to accomodate the taller grille.

Depends on what year. '99-'02 the Sport grilles are physically different and will not bolt on without bumper modifications. They curve downward in the middle whereas non-sports do not, and have deeper griller perimeter and crossmembers. The middle of the bumper has to be cut out or else replace it with a Sport bumper. If you surf TDR members Rigs youcan find pics of Sport trucks and you can see what I'm talking about.
