About switching to a 16cm housing . . .

Hi Gurus!

First I've got to tell you guys how much I enjoy reading your posts and appreciate you all sharing your knowledge. I'm pretty much a lurker -- as I learn more I might venture an opinion now and then!



I've had my '93 D350 auto for about 4 months now. The previous owner said he had the fueling turned up "a bit" --whatever that is. I have been wanting to do something that might make cruising @70-75mph a little easier, and from reading what you guys have to say, it sounds like a 16cm turbo housing would probably be a logical move.



I realize the auto is going to be the weak link in the system, though so far it has functioned just fine. I'm not a real leadfoot off the line, though am afraid once I start BOMBing that I may convert to the "Our Lady of Acceleration" denomination!



Does the turbo housing change sound like a logical/safe move?Somewhere down the line is a DTT and larger injectors, but right now the $$ is a little scarce for those.

The 16cm turbine housing would definitely be a logical/safe modification. It requires no modifications to install. Only issue may be rasslin' the old one off the turbo Add some mild pump tweaking and you'll be doing quite well

Installed my 16cm back in February on the 1989 brownie which now has 236,000 miles on the clock. This is my daily driver and often pulls a heavy 18' utility with a New Holland skid steer or tractor on it. Before the transplant it took 3 days to get up to 60 mph with a loaded trailer behind. That process is much much faster now. The fuel screw is turned in a bit also.



Do it. Now. You'll be glad you did.

A liberal application or two of PB Blaster helps that.

The 16cm2 housing is the most notable addition to these engines and should have been a standard feature since their inception. It is a noticeable aid in performance and helps oxygenate the fuel more efficiently. I noticed an immediate increase in the power in the mountains while towing my 5th wheel 26' trailer. One cannot go wrong here. Just my two cents worth.
