What would be an example of this? Something thats not used in a pickup?

Closest thing I have ever seen is the rto 610 road ranger and no, it definitely isn't a pickup transmission. Input shaft for a huge clutch, rather heavy overall and output yoke for a light simi tractor. There may be an adaptation that has an electric compound shift but the only one I have ever seen is air shifted. Not too many ever built but they do exist and could be adapted. Been thinking about it myself. But like I have said, the Getrag isn't dead and I am burned out on that kind of thing.

:--) OK guys, Thats a heck of alot of info to sink into my bald spot! But I will try to understand. Let me see if I can sum it all up.

1. The Getrag is OK if you keep the R's up on the engine, and don't lug it, [especially when towing] and add an extra quart of oil, and put in through the shifter.

2. Rebuild the one that I have in the basement and rat hole it just incase number one don't work.

3. Get an NV4500 as soon as I can and get rid of the other 2!!!

Skip step three and go find a nv5600. Thats the one I want. After my brother has had 5th gear come apart twice in one year, I would rather have the 6spd. The second time was with the updated shaft and nut. Something like a broken snap ring. He doesn't tow as much and often as I do plus he runs smaller tires.



Oh yeah, marty1 knows all about 6 speed conversions!!
