I tried to install my water/meth kit yesterday but could not find a suitable place to mount the tank or the pump. I was hoping someone could post a few pics of their install and or give me some tips. Thanks

Well, here is the install gallery.

And here is the location of the tank

#ad

I still have not gotten around to relocating it, but for a temporary mount, it works fine.

Many members have just tapped into their windshield washer tank, some opted for the Snow Performance 8 gallon tank, and a few have found other means. I was all set to make 2 - 4 tanks for mounting under the cab on the left and right out of either 6" (two tanks) PVC or 4" (four tanks). My holding capacity would have been around 9 - 12 gallons. Problem is, the cost of the end caps for the 6" was over $20 per, and the cost of all the extra fittings for the 4" to link up fluid feed, and vent lines would have hit $40, and both of them landing at over $90 per, with my still having to figure out a mount and plumbing in the fill tube.

What were you planning to use your setup for? Towing egt control, or hot rodding?

Sticks, How's that system working for you? What kind of power does it produce? How much did it decrease the egt? Any other info would be good too. Thanks

With OEM injectors and an EZ, I gained 63HP and 100 something TQ (stage I kit with a stage II variable controller). EGT wise, I think that I am the only one that is seeing a gain in EGTs. On the flip side, all I have ever run is a50/50 mix, so the extra methanol is burning as well. I am going to be at a 12. 5/81. 5 mix soon, so hopefully I will see the drops that every one else is getting. Now I have stage II injectors and the EZ, so I am a little over fueled (I really need a bigger turbo) then I should start seeing the full benefits.

jrandol dropped 300* (01, ATS stage III, 35/40 hybrid with a 16cm turbine, stage III injectors, and a blue chip box) on his EGTs when we got him hooked up.

In a nutshell, this system works better than advertised for most, and is well worth the investment.

Thank you for the pics. I found that same hole next to the battery to put the tank but I have a friend making me a bracket that uses the top 2 bolts of the alternator. I will take a look mounting my pump in the same location you found. Again thanks for th help.

I'm going to use my kit for hot roddding, tractor pulls and racing.

It sounds like a pretty good thing. Where can you get it? Cost? How does this compare to propane? I have heard some bad news about propane. Oh, and pardon all the dumb ???'s

There are no dumb questions.

The kit we are talking about is the Snow Performance Water Methanol injection. The second group buy ended in June.

Do a search on Water/Meth (just like that) and read on. There are a couple of L O N G threads about the installs and performance. As to how it compares to Propane, IMO this is better, and cheaper. For all intensive purposes, we are just making the intake air really humid with the water/meth mix.

Thanks Sticks, I'll check it out. Now that I think about it, we had a 3rd gen black dually in the shop not too long ago that had SNOW PERFORMANCE decals all over it. Really nice truck. It sat in the shop for a long time because the guy working on it couldn,t figure out why it would not start. I remember he replaced like three injection pumps on the thing and finally found a bad regulator or something. Anybody know the truck or the shop I'm talking about?

Oddly enough, that sounds like Matt Snow's (owner of Snow Performance)truck. He has a black (could be really dark blue) dually.

I'd like to get in touch with him on this. I did that search yesterday and nothing came up. I'll try again... nevermind, I clicked on the link you provided and found the website. I'll definitely be checking into this. Thanks

Robert, you might thank that is high but there is no others on the Market for that price or has as much knowledge or as many kits out(Matt has over 1000 on the street) I've been running his system for over a year now with no issues what so ever, it works when ever I need it... . HP gain ranges from 50-100 HP.

Scheids diesel has a real high pressure puller truck kit for $1500!

It is HIGH. what really got me was the $149 plastic jub.

Of course who ever thought we would pay 10cents much less a $1 for a small bottle of water? I am amazed.

Matt came up with that for a few people that wanted a large tank for towing, most of us use the windshield washer tank for what we do... . it's free, holds a gallon+ and has a low light!

wait

Wait a minute...

Are you guys saying that the injection of water gives that dramatic an increase of like 100 lb/ft of torque?

I'm running a superchips on max about claimed 70 hp +140 lbft TQ with no towing/hauling recommended. Was planning on increasing boost a little maybe to 28 psi to cool things down and maybe a 4" exhaust. Already have a K&N Re880. Superchips mod sure blows a lot of black smoke at heavy throttle under load.

I was hoping to get some towing capablility back.

Yep just like on Matt's site. On his stage 2 kit listed on his site, the dyno sheet can from a local truck I setup... ... 70 hp and 110 ft/lbs on a stock turbo'd 97' 5 speed! That particular truck is at 432 on fuel and 496 on water right now... . Stock HX-35 with an 18. 5 housing!

When I jumped from the stock 215 injectors to 370's, the water gain dropped from 70 hp to 64... ... normal for more fuel and not more air!

Truck in shop

Greetings! I was surfing and found this thread. It seems that there is not alot of experience in diagnosing fuel pump issues on the new trucks. My truck went down in May ( 3000miles on the odo) after dying on " horsepower hill" in the mountains just east of Deckers, CO- beautifull drive. I was on my way to the drag strip and decided to see how fast I could get the Cummins up the 6-mile, 7% grade. After having my foot into it for approx 4-miles, the truck died - had to have it flat bedded to Colo springs to the Dealer. They origionally thought it was a CP3 high pressure pump - put three in with still the same problem. I made a call to Scott Bentz at Rocky Mountain Cummins who contacted Star - my truck was fixed that day! It turned out to be a limiter valve that I think they said needed to be reset. Truck works great now and recently put down 980lb/ft on ATS's dyno ( corrected - 1. 257 correction factor- dyno at 6000ft. ) with edge EZ and alot of methanol - Boost Cooler added 200LB/ft with 75% meth- see future article in TDR showing effect of differing concentrations of methanol.

Matt,

Glad to see you are still around.

I thought you said not to go over a 50% mix of methanol? Now here you are running a 75% mix?

Great numbers. How did your EGT's hold up?

Matt, I work at the dealer you took your truck to. Just for the record, I was not the tech who worked on your truck. I don't exactly get along with the tech who was performing the repairs so I wasn't really informed as to what was happening. I did know they tried three pumps and had no luck. Duh!! I know they called STAR several times and they were telling him to replace the cp3 pump. Anyways, I checked out your truck while it was there and didn't really see any obvious mods. Either you removed them or you're good at hiding them. I'll definately be looking into your product in the near future.
