I find the water/methanol injection interesting. I will keep reading what I can find about it... I might put it on my truck.

I used to have a gasser that I raced a little. For street use I ran water/methanol. For race purposes I ran Hydrogen Peroxide/Methanol. The Peroxide has an extra oxygen molecule that is released when heated. It allowed me to run rich and still burn everything. I don't know how this would work in a diesel! I'm just thinking...

water/meth

Sticks,

The new TD's appear to have very retarded injection timing to meet emmisions so they can use more methanol. Another reason we got away with it is that the EZ box doesn't add any timing. 75% was max - more produced diesel knock - or something that sounded like it. Then we added NitroBooster® nitromethane additive. Started the dyno pull making another 60HP but started making diesel knock sound so we backed off. EGT's weren't monitored so no data - leaving it up to the water/meth to control - will have a guage soon.

That hydrogen peroxide sounds like wild stuff! I wonder how it works with compression ignition?

jpmutt - I wasn't trying to diss the dealership - I just think that the common rail is somewhat new. I was alittle surprised that star was stumped. Oh yea, for dealer consumption, " no mods have ever been done to this truck"!!

I'll let someone else experiment with the Hydrogen Peroxide. OK it works on gassers, but diesels have lots more compression, and funky stuff happens when you add that to the mix. If the Oxygen seporates, that leaves the Hydrogen, another VERY explosive gas to play with. Visions of the head not only lifting, but taking the hood with it, or finding out just how well the con rods will actually hold up.

You going to be at the Dyno Day in Ft Collins on the 25th Matt? Every time we have one of those up there, people ask me if you are going to show.

Water?

Hydrogen Peroxide?

Methonal?

Nitro Methonal?

I'd be interested in a 75/25 mix of Hydrogen, and Nitro... .

Any idea's?

Matt?

Jim?

Thanks,

Merrick

Dyno day

Sticks,

I'm not going to make the dyno day - I've got a race that weekend with my Cobra.

MCUMMINGS - not sure what to tell you as every combo acts differently( injection timing, fuel vs air, combustion temps etc). Some I know are doing great with the NitroBooster® - no diesel knock. Whatever you do, start small.

Matt

The hydrogen peroxide is used as a disinfectant and can be bought about anywhere that sells bandages. When it is heated, it separates into WATER and an extra oxygen molecule. It still gives the cooling and detonation advantages of water while adding a little extra oxygen. I too wonder/question how it would work in a diesel. Like I said, I am just thinking.

I'll do it. Here, hold my beer.

The Hydorgen Peroxide that is bought at your local store is only about a 3% mix. Food grade hydrogen peroxide can be bought that is closer to 20%. NOT FOR DIRECT CONTACT WITH SKIN! Nasty stuff. I still will be the one saying "No, you do it. I dare ya. "

Of course I said the same thing about this whole water/meth injection thing about a year and a half ago. Who would have thought that dumping water into a combustion engine at some obscene rate would actually be a good thing.

I'll try it as soon as I get a couple miles on the new motor.

I'll try something like this,

water,

water/meth,

water/hydro,

water/nitro,

hydro/meth,

hydro/nitro,

meth/nitro.

Then I'll go back to the one with the best results, and start adding nitrous.

Matt, Sorry if I sounded upset. I dind't mean for my reply to sound like I took offense. I'm not a corporate man by any means, and truthfully I can't wait for the day I can leave that place and do my own thing. I truly despise the political games the dealerships play. Like warrantying something for some jerk who is 5,000 miles out of warranty because he starts getting p!$$ed off, and not helping out a single mother fix her broke down Neon so she can get back and forth to work. Anyways... I didn't feel that you were dissing the dealership and frankly wouldn't care if you did. Now that might be a different story had I been the guy working on your truck and you were dissing me. ;)
