I had a set on Kumo mud tires 33 x 12. 50 x 16. 5 on american racing aluminum wheels on my 85 truck. Went to put them on my 2001 (it had 16" x 8" factory aluminum wheels-I believe they have a 6 1/2" back spacing?) and the wheel hit the front brakes locking up the wheel... . a little grinding and I got the front wheels to turn. However they stick out of the body about 2".

When these 16. 5" are shot, I would like to go to a 17" x 8" wheel. I found used set with a 5" back spacing. Would that work or should I go 6" or something else? The looks like the tie rod end should be inside a 17" wheel and not hit. I do not them sticking out. What back spacing for a 8" wheel should I get?

To keep stock backspacing for a 8" rim you need 6" BS, so the wheel you are looking at will have your tires sticking out 1" more than stock.
