I have a 01 250 and the abs and brake light have been coming on intermittently and staying on for 10 or fifteen minutes at a time. I checked the fluid level and it is OK. What else would cause the light to come on. Everything seems to be working allright in the brake department but the light is bugging me. I don't have time to take it to the dealer. I am making hay while this good weather lasts. Thanks

Could be a wheel sensor acting up or the speed/ABS sensor in the top of the differential. Pull the plug in the diff. cover and see if it has any metal particles on it, if so might also want to pull aand clean the speed sensor in top of diff. Whatevever it is is resetting after a while which indicates that it is working some of the time. bg

I also had a problem with ABS and brake warning light staying on after the engine was running. Normally they come on briefly when you first turn the key, then go out after the engine starts. Everything else seemed to worked fine including speedometer, cruise control and brakes. (I have to assume the antilocks would not have functioned properly but did not test this since I haul a camper around)

I ohmed out the rear wheel speed sensor located on top of the rear differential. It was open or I could say that it read infinite ohms. I got a new rear wheel speed sensor from the dealership for around 34 dollars and it read a little over 1800 ohms. After installing it, I started the truck and the lights still stayed on. I backed out of my drive and after around 30 feet of forward motion the lights went out.

The tools I needed were wire cutters for cutting tye wrap, 1/2 inch and 9/16 inch socket for removing the nut on the stud, then the stud itself. Also need a new tye wrap.

Cheers!

I have a 2000 Dodge CTD with antilock on all four.

same problem here my rear sensor reads 1. 375 ohms.

I checked mine under the truck by un-plugging the senser and I get 0 ohms.

What should I be getting?

Also, shoud the new give a reading before installing it?

I Know This Maybe Out In Left Field ,but My Brake Light And Abs Ligth Was On After Changing Brake Rotors Drums And Linings And Ect... . I Found That My E-brake Was Not Fully Disingageing After About Two Hours Of Checking And Rechecking,,, After That I Could Kick My Own A** For That

Mine is fixed! The new one reads about 1. 37 ohms on the bench. Put it in and my lights have not come back on. The old one still reads 0 ohms in and out of truck.
