Need some help. Just put the cap back on my truck and now have Brake light and ABS light on. Everything seems to work ok. Brakes may even be better than before but very hard to tell. My manual talks about needing a DRB scan tool to read the ABS codes. I guess my Harrison R&D OBD2 software will not work for this.

I was under the truck re-running the brake light wiring to the cap. Also wonder if the weight of the cap caused the brake bias lever to change something just enough. Anyway any quick tips would be appreciated

Not sure, but...

Your camper shell won't have any affect on the bias of your brakes. I'm guessing you experienced the code and light was after you ran the wireing for your camper. I suggest:

Disconnect both batteries for a few minutes to see if that resets the lights. If not, try removing the camper wiring, then reset batteries.

If none of this works, you may have to resort to the dealer unless another member has experience w/ this problem.

Hope this helps, Wiredawg

had the same problem. it ended up being my brake light fuse, ended up changing it out with a bigger fuse. it also might be your ABS sensor in your rear end.

More info

My speedo does not work until I hit 30mph or so. This has got to be related. Drove 25 or 30 miles in a traffic jam this morning and never moved the speedo or the odometer for that matter.

I'm having the same problem with my '99 V10. ABS & Brake lights are on, speedo doesn't work below 20mph. I've tried disconnecting the battery and it didn't work. Read somewhere else that there is a sensor in the rear axle that could be bad (ABS sensor??)

Who has the solution??

Speed sensor

After going through my manual, I have determined that the speed sensor must be the culprit. I just bought one and will install it this evening. I'll let you know tomorrow how it works out

Oh yeah $45. 00

The rear wheel speed sensor is located on the top side of the chunk of the rear axle. It is a very common problem for the Dodge Rams (even 1/2 tons). They go out at any time and cause the ABS and Brake light to come on. Also, the speedo will not work until 20 - 30 mph and this also affects the cruise control in some situations.

Mine went out after repairing a leaking rear trasfer case seal. Started the truck up and backed it out of the garage when I noticed the light. Thought "WTF have I done?"

The part is a dealer item only and is around $40. 00. Very, very easy to change. On some trucks a wiring harness extension is required because DC has changed the sensor plug location.

Fixed

Replaced rear wheel speed sensor and all is good. Heads up, you will need the last 8 digits of your VIN number to order the part. Mine was in stock. :)

Mine did the same thing. All I had to do was unplug the connector and plug it back in... I've heard that this is fairly common.
