2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission ABS and brake lights

could somebody tell me what could be causing my ABS and brake lights to come on?

Speed sensor on top of differential - costs about $40 from dealer.

I have had that problem before but when it failed then the speedometer was messed up to, could it be bad and the speedometer still work?

My speedometer worked fine, just ABS and brake lights on. Sensor fixed it.
