Hi! The yellow ABS symbol and red BRAKE light just came on in my instrument panel. Yes, ABS has failed and "regular" brakes do work. Figure to get my '99 5sp 4x4 Dually over to the Ram DLR early next week for a look-see. What do any of you think the probelm MIGHT be, and cost to fix???? Could I do it myself? Just wondering.

Most times the problem is just a blown fuse or the sensor in the rear differential, you can do it yourself. Some folks have luck just cleaning the sensor. It's easy to find at the end of only wires going to the differential.

I had a similar problem a month ago. If your Speedometer does not register until about 27mph, I would say it is your real wheel speed sensor. Sensor is about $40. 00 and another $60. 00 for labor.

Put it in yourself and save the labor charge. It is very simple. Disconnect the wire to it

Take the bolt out and remove sensor. Put new one in and your done. Of course put the bolt back in and plug the wire back in.

The speedo not working symptom isn't applicable to all model years.

jkoehler, you need to tell us more about your truck, I see you found out how to do it, now you just need to finish!!!:)

I have the same problem. It started yesterday afternoon. After I restarted it was gone but it is back again. I am going to check each of these areas today before it goes back on the road.
