Nearly everytime I drive more that 10 miles my Abs AND brake light come on, the cruise control works, but will jump anwhere from 5-10 mph up or down. One time I went to make a quick stop going about 60 mph and the truck wouldn't stop... . Got a new rear speed sensor, checked the resistance and it was ~1. 8... almost identical to the resistance in the old speed sensor. What else could it be?

Thanks!

First thing to do if you can is scan for codes. If you can't disconnect the abs module connector under the hood to see if there's water in it or corrosion, clean out as necessary and maybe put some dielectric grease in the connector. Also get a wiring diagram for the rear wheel speed sensor and check the wiring from the abs module to the rear sensor. Is this a 4 wheel abs truck or just a rear abs? From what your describing it sounds like a problem with the rear sensor/circuit. Last thing to do is check the tone wheel in the rear diff. for any nicks or cracks or missing teeth. Hope this helps.

Speddo and abs problems

Had the same problem with my 99. Bad differential speed sensor. 40 bucks at the dealer and easy to install yourself... .

So, what kind of truck are we talking about?. Fill out your user profile as that would help. You could have a wire chafing problem as some have seen I believe it occurs where the wire loom leaves the frame to the axle.
