I was driving from Salt lake city to Las Vegas this past weekend, and my ABS and Brake light came on. My Cruise Control would not work either. I drove the rest of the way to vegas and took the truck the next day (Saturday) to Infinity Dodge off the vegas 215 and Rainbow. They took a look at it and told me the brake switch was bad. They replaced the switch and I was on my way with no trouble lights. I assumed the crusie control was working as well, but on the trip back when I used the CC it worked, but when I went to disingage it by tapping on the brakes, and it would not disingage. I had to push the pedal down halfway to the floor to get it to trip. I felt like i was pushing the brakes and the gas at the same time. Today I hooked up a 22' car hauler w/trailer brakes and my trailer brake controller won't accuate until the brake is at least halfway down, i assume it is controlled by the same switch. Do these switches need " break in " time or do i have a bogus switch. Would a different dealer fix the problem for free, or at least give me another new switch if I brought in the broken one? I won't be back in Vegas for a while and it's not worth it to me to drive 6 hours for a $15 switch, even though they did charge me $150. 00 Parts and Labor.

Thanks in advance.

My first thought was your rear wheel speed sensor. It will effect CC if it is bad, but I'm not sure if it can effect it in that fashion. Since your brake and ABS lights went out, I'd think it was something different. I've never looked at the brake switches on these Dodges, so I'm not sure if they are adjustable. If they are, might be a possibility that it needs adjusted. Hope you get it worked out.

UPDATE

I called dodge and apparently there is a way to adjust the switch via a flip lever on the back. I verified this with my old switch, and crawled under the dash to adjust the new switch. I looked up and the adjustment lever was broken off the new one. I went to the local dealer and got a new switch with the lever and installed it myself. everything works fine now. In the future I am going to keep an extra one in the truck just in case. Only $13 a pop.
