When I swapped over to the G56 I tapped the ABS sensor in the differential to power the speedometer through a Dakota Digital SGI-5. It was easy to bypass the module, one splice.

That's interesting and way cheaper than a used module.

really interesting as my speedometer has never stopped working through this whole deal.
got the rebuilt controller back today and installed. no change so i guess its back to square one.
back to running down wiring and connections.

thought i would update this as i have been fighting it all winter. i have been getting errors regarding the right sensor communication issue. i have replaced it twice in the last month. after replacing it i started getting intermittent brake and ABS lights on. I pulled the sensor again and cleaned the mount and removed a spacer that was there from the old sensor. all lights are now out. i do have a different issue now that as i am braking when i get to 10mph it acts like the ABS is kicking in. the pedal pushes back and pulsates. is this sounding like another sensor issue? i have no codes showing.

this sounds similar to an issue I had with a right rear cracked remanufactured caliper casting...after several weeks, the pedal started to become a little spongy, and I noticed the brake fluid in the reservoir had dropped...that little bit of air in that part of the circuit was causing some issues with some skidding...the only way I noticed the leak was I drove through a big puddle that turned the whole underside of the truck white...the next day, I noticed the dark spot on the casting between the bleed screw and the banjo bolt, with very small bubbles forming after a trip into town.

RESOLVED:

OK last update here. i found a front wheel bearing starting to get questionable so i replaced both sides since i had things apart. hub assemblies were aftermarket and came with another set of sensors preinstalled. short story is after replacing hubs and sensors problem has finally been put to bed. ABS working fine, no error codes and no lights.
My baby is finally well again and ready for the long hauls.
