I have a 99 1 ton 4x4, the ABS & brake light came on this past weekend. I took it to a local repair shop that just repaired my co-workers truck (same condition & same truck exp. 3/4 ton) When he tried to use the scan tool on mine it wouldn't work. What gives?
My mother-in-law had the same thing happen to her truck... they couldn't find the problem for a long time. The genius at the dodge shop couldn't figure it out so he told her the ABS computer was bad and it would be ~$800 to fix it. It turned out to be a faulty wheel speed sensor for much less dinero (<$100). Hope that helps.
The ABS sensor went out on mine last week. Sensor is mounted on the top of the rear end housing. Cost = $34. 00 for part and about 15-20 min install time. I had the same symtoms. ABS light on, Brake light on, and speedo would not work under 20mph.
