abs brakes

sometimes when trying to stop the abs brakes system will not let the truck stop. I this a comon thing and what can i do to fix this help please.

Try to remember, did you just go over a fairly good sie bump will standing on the brakes?? If so, this is completley normal and completely BS. I've had the same thing happen to me. One suggestions was to press harder on the pedal, haven't had the chance to try this.

nope no bump

just tryed to stop for light . and another time was on a dirt road wich was almost fatal.

Also...

On some quick stops mine will sometimes feel as if the rear brakes release, leaving only the fronts for stopping. If I release and re-engage the brakes full stopping power comes back. In an earlier thread we traced this back to not having much weight on the rear (shortbed 4x4).



You may want to add some weight to the rear and try it, or drop the pressure in your rear tires for a better contact patch.



You can try to push the pedal harder, but in my situation it didn't help much.

As a suggestion, you may want to fill in your information box so we don't need to ask questions such as:

what year truck, 2500 or 3500, 2 or 4 wheel drive, etc.



Maybe you have a sensor gone bad?? If it was normal stopping and not quick stopping. I only have problems when I stop hard and hit bumbps. Some members have had problems in snow and ice (similar to your dirt problem), You may want to do a search on this subject and see what other members have suggested in the past.

Hey guys I have a 2001 2500 4x4 and at 8mo of owning it I flushed the entire brake system and used super blue racing brake fluid its what I use in my sportbike dont worry its fine but what a difference it made a 100% difference I was amazed just a tid bit of info. Also merry xmas Im in Germany now fly in the military enjoy being home with your family!!!!!!

What is the difference that the brake fluid change made, sounds interesting.

I dont know if it flushed out any air or what and probably the better grade brake fluid helped its the fluid I use in racing sportbikes but what a difference
