What’s it all mean? The first part I think everyone knows, the CAB is Controller Anti Lock Brakes, the HCU is Hydraulic Control Unit.
My ABS CAB took a dump and when it did the HCU motor wouldn’t turn off even with the key out.
Replacing the CAB/HCU module ($400 + - retail) is very straightforward, 5 lines, two bolts and two connectors. The hard part is you need a DRB III to bleed the HCU and initialize the CAB. This turned out to be very easy once I found out how to do it (thanks to a friendly local Dodge Dealer mechanic). After the unit is installed you’ll need to go into the ABS menu then scroll down to Misc. and there are two options. You’ll need to get into both, the first is for bleeding the HCU and the second is set the pinion factor (tire size in revs per mile). Bleeding will need to be done twice, once before and once after bleeding the HCU.

Additional DRB III instructions:

I just remembered that while in the ABS "set pinion factor" menu in addition to setting tire size the computer needs to be told which rear end your truck has, "corporate or other"
