ok... . the other day while driving the ABS light came on as well as the (brake) light... . nothing wrong with the brakes... . pedal was firm... so i checked the codes and P 1693 came up... i c this is just a general code saying something is wrong??is it just the ABS sensor that is going bad... . i read somewhere that mayb the wires were getting frayed... if this might be the problem could someone point me in the right direction of the ABS sensor... 2001 dually

Me too

Mine's done it four times in the last month, always when it's colder than -25. The ABS doesn't function, but I still have standard brakes. Dealer said a relay was sticking the first time, but when i just took it back, my service tech said they've seen alot of these in the past month, and only on the '02 diesels. She also said they've ordered new ABS modules for some customers, but haven't installed them yet, so they don't know if it'll fix the problem. She also said DC hasn't given an explanation yet either. Oh well, if they can't fix it, I'll grudgingly accept an '03 four-door LWB ETH/DEE SLT Lariat for the same 0% interest for 5 years.

Anybody else hear of this problem?

i have read that it might b due to low batteries... anyone else here of this prob??right now it is 9 degrees outside and the truck does seem to take more to turn over than it did a few weeks ago.

Just got back from the dealer

Picked the truck up this evening after service, and after reading my invoice discovered a new ABS module was on-order for my truck.

From the technician: "Found codes for main relay open and system control mode timeout. Used test manual pages 23-26 and determined internal main relay open intermittently, need new CAB".

Still no word from DC as to what the underlying problem is. I hope the new box fixes it though!

I can't see it being batteries. Mine did it after the vehicle had already been running for 20+ minutes. The batts on mine are new, and start the truck just fine every morning.

Anybody else ready to chime in?

I took out my speed sender in the rear end and cleaned it. Then put it back in. Unconnected the battery for 30 mins to reset the computer. Took it for a drive and that fix it for 8 months. Lights came on 3 weeks ago for about 1 week then when out. But I noticed I had no abs anymore. I pick up a new sender from dodge and installed it. Reset the computer and took it for a drive. Abs is fix. Hope this helps. :p
