I put new starter contacts in my 96 2500 4x4 yesterday after disconecting both batterys, when I started the truck my abs & park brake lite did not go out. Checked out the brakes and everything kook's fine. Need help. Thank's

I only have RWAL on this truck. Mfg date 11/95 4x4. The first thing I did was check the black box. There is no fuse in the space reseverd for one. Never has been. But thank's anyway.

There is a fuse for the brakes - check your owners manual.

I'm at work and don't remember where exactly it is - but I have pulled it to diagonse other issues.

oh yea - create a sig for yourself so we can see exactly what you have to better help you in the future.

Oh, I know - That is how I know he has an ABS fuse - cause I have one .

But I did state that "... in the future". ;) ;)

Ya almost got me! :D

abs

i have a 97 and i don't have an abs fuse either but i did have to replace the sensor in the rear. when it went bad only the brake light would stay on, no abs light to be seen. i think ford have the same sensor and cheaper at a ford dealer.

OK,

Those of you with a 1996 truck with RWAL - read my typing.

I'm home now and checked the OEM service manual

You have an ABS fuse - fuse 14 in the fuse block - 20 amp.

You will NOT have one in the PDC!

I'm not saying that is what is wrong with your truck, I'm just stating that ANYTHING that uses electricity on your truck has a fuse.

yeah i am still having the same problem. i replaced the fuse both lights (abs & parking brake lights) went out for about 12 hours and then came back on again. is the only suggestion replacing the sensor in the rear end? would that have anything to do with brake ligHts nOT wORKing? thanks.

Check for a vacuum leak - the 96 models had vacuum controlled brakes. I had a vacuum leak at the 4x4 actuator mounted on the front axle that was causing my ABS and Brake lights to stay on.

Worth a try...
