well my abs light and brake lights have been coming on sporactically. Wasn't that big of a deal until today I had a panic stop situation and expected the abs to kick in (it usually does) and it didn't locked up the front and rear. I have replaced abs sensor in the diff and the brake sensor on the pedal. I am wondering what else is in the abs system besides the control modual. Also my cruise doesn't work not sure and that symtom is related or note. I guess let me know what you guys suggest

Hmmm, Since you don't state what truck you are referring to I'd have to assume you are referring to the 84 chevy - didn't realize they have ABS. Check the service manual and pull the codes from the computer to determine what is wrong. After you have the codes pulled, verify that is the problem (follow the flow chart in the service manual). Or you could just replace everything and hope that takes care of the problem.

yeah I'm an idiot. Sorry I also have a 96 CTD that's not in my signature. No the chevy doesn't have abs but the dodge does. Thanks for that. Hopefully now someone can answer my question.

No, you are not an idiot.

Now, were you able to "Check the service manual and pull the codes from the computer to determine what is wrong. After you have the codes pulled, verify that is the problem (follow the flow chart in the service manual)"??

If you were not able to do that - what were you able to do.

Do you have RWAL or AWAL?

Good Luck

Dan

You can get the service code by turning the ignition (on , off, on, off, on, in five seconds or less) The service light will blink to show the code. Example; two flashes, short pause, four flashes, long pause, three flashes, short pause, five flashes. Etc. means that you have a code 24 and 35 pending service. A code 55 will flash when there are no more problems. The service manusl will then guide you through a trouble shooting drill. Hope this helps you out.

jbrowne :)

Check the vacuum hose to the speed control servo under the battery tray. Mine had rotted @ the rubber elbow from battery acid and caused the ABS/Brake light to come on intermittantly (from low vacuum at idle or low cruising RPM) and eventually lost my cruise, which is how I finally figured out the problem.
