I had the front end aligned and the mechanic told me that the Drv side ABS sensor was broken and I need to replace it and I need an assembly and not just a sensor. Since I don't have my manual close by, I'm at work is this correct. Truck was built late 2002 and is a 2003 3500 4x4

TIA

Steve

Was the ABS light on before and/or after the alignment?

The sensor has a lead with a special plug on it. I got one included with the bearing assembly I replaced.

Something's fishy. Like Bighammer says, the sensor is located in the hub/bearing assembly. With it installed, you can't see the tone ring. [Actually, even with it removed it's hard to see the tone ring with the bearing still on the vehicle].

There's nothing to look at to tell you it's broken, unless the wire itself is cut. I'm thinking your alignment man did something wrong and is trying to cover his butt.

If it's not functional, the ABS light will be on.
