Good Morning, TDR.

My truck is a 99 3500 4X4 With auto and 110,000 Miles and last night my ABS & Brake warning lights came on and wont go off after I started the truck. No codes are set in the odometer window.

I pulled the front & rear wheels this morning and have plenty of pad & shoe. What can I do to get these lights to go out. I am going to change the front pads while there off.

If the brakes still operate properly, possibly the sensor in the rear end went out. This would also affect the speedometer.

If the speedometer still works correctly, the sensors at the wheels could also be dirty or bad.

It could also be a fuse.

If you have 4 wheel anti lock brakes, your speedo will still work.

If the rear ABS sensor is still plugged in and shows no signs of damage, check the wires covered with the plastic conduit. . If there is a wear mark in the plastic covering, check in behind for damaged wires. . If you have a multi meter, with the key on, engine off, check the power and ground at the connector. The power side(red wire) should have close to 5 volts and the ground side(white wire) should not have too much resistance. Good luck

If you have hooked up a trailer lately check the abs

and brake light fuses. In my case it was the brake light fuse and bulb blown.

Thanks Guys,

I will check all in the morning when I get home from work

TJ

Checked all out no blown fuses or rubbed wires so it my be the sensor. I pick one up monday

tjlaffite,

I had the exact same thing happen Friday on my way home from work. I've got a 98. 5 with about 110k on it. Both the ABS and Brake lights came on about a half mile from home.

Was busy Friday night and all day Saturday, so haven't had a chance to check anything yet.

Sunday when I was able to check the brakes the ABS and Brake lights were working normal again.

The brake fluid was a little bit down, so topped it off.

The front pads looked great.

Since I have a long gravel driveway I did a few test stops and found that the front brakes would lock up, but rears wouldn't. Manually adjusted the rear brakes, since the backing up to self adjust didn't accomplish anything. After manually adjusting, the rear brakes were also working.

Useing a multi meter I checked the voltage going to the rear wheel speed sensor and it is regestering is 3 volts is this ok or to low ansd what elese should I check for. I borrowed a scan tool from auto zone and it says circut failure # 35 what does that mean. also reset and ABS & BRAKE lights stays on.
