Another thank you from me. This will save me a breakdown because my pump is bad and I wouldn't have known it if it werent for the Guage I put on.

Thanks to all.

Ok, I've chilled out now

I called Cummins back to ask how I know I got the latest pump, 3990105.

Their computer shows that the "kit" 3990082, does use the 3990105.

He told me the PN doesn't appear anywhere on the pump, itself because they are made by Carter/Federal Mogul ??whatever, for Cummins. Cummins assigns their own PN's which only appear in the computer, on the boxes, and invoices. They are not on the pump.

Guess I should have figured this out :(

Good Cummins Service

Just called Cumins Atlantic and the pump was on back order. But they looked on there computer and one of their other branches had one so they are getting it in for me. This pump is on a 2 week back order according to my dealer.

Thank you every one who helped me with advice and PN#. We leave in a week for the west coast with camper in tow.

On my old 93 the Inj. pump quit in Armpit Wyoming. 150 mile towing to nearest Cumins place. They saw me coming, but if I would have been TDR educated would have saved me no less than $ 1500. 00.

I just replaced my lift pump Tue. ( 08-14-01) I called Gateway Cummins (St Louis MO) and they told me they had 30 on order (new part number). Two of thier other sites had one each. Had to drive to Sikeston MO (114 miles) to get one.

3990105 lift pump $139. 08

4025182 wire harness $7. 13

I called Dodge and they told $414 for the pump and didn't say anything about the harness, plus it was going to take a day to get it from Star.

The old pump had 68,113 miles on it. I hope this one last longer.

Like others TDR members, I have noticed that the tach doesn't jump when the engine is at an idle as it did before changing the lift pump.
