AC Clutch noise

Question?



When I turn on the AC it makes a hell of a clunk, the dealer said it is just the torque of the startup that makes the noise. But that can't be, it's to loud. People look when I start it up.



Any idea why it's doing this?

They all do it. It's the clutch sucking in when voltage is applied. Don't lose any sleep over it. Ron

Mine does it too, especially when I first turn on the AC.

Mine has been doing it since new (17,000 miles) and is louder when the weather is cool in the AM. Still freezing me out!

My original compressor made the noise and the second one clunks worse. Its been the same on every other truck I've heard.
