Can someone please direct me to a place that has compressor and clutch rebuild kits for a '97 Ram Diesel. Even better, can someone tell me how difficult it is to actually rebuild one, clutches and all. I assume that the cylinder would need to be honed, with new gaskets, seals and oil installed. I also assume, maybe incorrectly, that the clutch would need new disks and steels (like a transmission?). Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before you start this job check out the price of a new compressor at mopar4less. 1-800-748-2139 and ask for internet parts. If I remember correctly I paid around $350 for a brand new OEM replacement this spring. Way cheaper than the local dealer and a lot less work than rebuilding the old one.

AutoZone

I purchased a OEM from AutoZone #1889263

It was between 2 and 300 $s

The clutch went out and the price of the clutch from them was almost

as much as the the whole unit.

Catch Me If You Can. . . 614,000 miles as of 8/7/04 :p
