Dealer still driving truck under deposit?

I'm looking for some ammo here.

I'm getting ready to take my truck back in for the fouth time for a heater box issue and want some feedback from you guys and gals.

I first took it in early spring for a direction door that stuck either on the floor or the defrost.

Then again for a door that still stuck and an AC that would sound like the blower was getting ready to take off, but blow no air.

Then again for an AC that would blow very little air to the passenger side (dual climate) all the time and end up blowing no air after a time. Direction door seems to be fixed... ... ... ... . when all that noise is actually producing airflow.

Now, I still seem to get a reduced airflow on the passenger side (not that I ride there), which is also a littler warmer. It'll still freeze up?? and stop blowing on cooler/humid days.

I've not had many complaints with this truck, but for close to 40K, if I want air, I should be able to get air!!

thats pretty crazy ... ... ... ... ... 113 views, several threads floating around and only 13 votes

I've read here that adding freon solves the problem, but from my understanding that only warms the system because the spray pattern is not as fine and stops the freezing up ... ... ... ... . beyond that, the major difference in airflow and temp to the passenger side is unacceptable in a $40K vehilcle.

sorry... i read lots, but after only 2 months of my CTD, I can't vote.

BTW, a most excellent job on the filter socket... it sits next to my snap-on tools and holds its own, no problem. True craftsmanship.

You are correct about expecting a vehicle to operate correctly. . However, DC obviously knows about this problem. My "dealer" said they added freon. It is cooler on MAX but Normal gets no cool air to the passenger side. Since my dealer doesn't perform any "real" work for me and never gives me a receipt for "repairs" I never know what they did. They are a 5 STAR dealer. They don't give me a receipt so they can keep their phony 5 STAR rating.

Of the( 1) 7. 3 IDI and (3 )Power Jokes I owned, I had exactly 2 problems, one on the first and one on the last. Both were repaired by the respective dealers on the first day. I never had any problems relating to the cab/chassis, air, steering, uneven tire wear, etc. . Had an oil leak (minor) (truck 1)and then a failed camshaft sensor. (truck 4)

So far, my 5 STAR dealer has failed to repair the air conditioning, the block heater and managed to put the wrong lube in the rear plus an antislip additive which was not required. I had to correct that problem myself, as they just stared at me when I informed them about their stupid mistake. Also, the inside edge of the the front rubber is wearing down in a strip about 1/2" wide. I've noticed this on other 3500s and even 1500s. Just an added bonus, a screwed up front end. If I hit a pothole, it rips the steering wheel out of my hands as there is no damper on the 03 front. Notice I haven't mentioned the mirror on the right that flops around and the exceedingly uncomfortable front seats. I'm thinking about ripping them out and putting in some concrete benches.

The a/c, at highway speeds freezes, the doors shut, air just swirls around in the box, I throw heat to it, it thaws and begins running again for awhile.

I like the Cummins but absolutely despise DC for the way they do business.

My solution to this problem will be to return to the manufacturer with which I've had success. I work 6 days a week and do not have a desire to repair a $40k vehicle that a sleazy dealer refuses to repair.

I don't buy them to work on them.

Good luck on the A/C problem. You'll have to find one of the "good" dealers to get it fixed properly. Oo.
