My AC (condenser)? has spring a leak and the dash has to come out to replace it. How big a job is this going to be? I know the dealer wants big bucks to do this. Is it just a nuts and bolts kind of thing? Any experience in this is welcomed. Thanks
 
Definitely change the heater core while you're in there. It would suck to go through all that and have the heater core start leaking at a later date. I was fortunate I was able to get mine done a few years ago under my extended warranty.
 
Check out my article on heater core replacement in Issue 59, p. 90. The heater core and air conditioning evaporator core are in the same “box” under the dash, so you will get an idea of what is involved.
