My AC stops working after driving a while. Blower still running but no air comes from outlets. When I checked under the hood, both High & Low pressure lines were covered with a heavy layer of ice. Turn compressor off to let ice melt and AC will work OK for a while - but will soon freeze up again.

This has been discussed by others with this problem. Has anyone found the cause and/or what needs to be done to correct this AC problem ? Any thoughts/comments appreciated!

I have an appointment at a dealer Tuesday morning (6/22) to see if they can fix it. The service mgr. said he "never heard of this problem" happening on a Dodge before. Now where have I heard a comment like that before?:(

A/C

Had this happen to me one time on a road trip. Was running for an extended period in high humidity conditions without the A/C set on "Max", which recirculates rather than takes in outside air. Have you tried running it on Max to see if it still freezes?

Had the same thing happen to my truck. Called the dealer and took it in. The problem is a hose with an orifice in it getting clogged. They said it is a known problem on the 03's.

Prior to taking it to the shop I would open the outside air vent and blow hot air into the the cab for about 5 minutes. Then close the outside vent and turn the A/C back on. You might want to roll the windows down while blowing the hot air. After the above procedure it would work fine for a while.

I posted about 2 weeks ago, concerning the same thing on my '03. I kind of thought the direction actuator wasn't working properly, but this sound just like mine. Will print this thread and head to the dealer... Thanks, guys.....
